The doc at Cleveland who does a lot of ross redos is a G. Petterson. Anyone know anything about him?

Hello Christine,
This is actually a very inaccurate statement you have made. Last time I was at CCF for my check-up there had been no redo's of the Ross since August 2000 when the Clinic performed this procedure for the first time in three years. It was actually shortly after that particular surgery that Cleveland Clinic began to offer the Ross Procedure option for valve replacement. According to my cardio, they perform at least two - four per month now.
I would be interested in knowing the source for your information of Pettersen's statistics as well as the timeframe these redo's allegedly occurred.
I know for a fact that it was the cardiovascular surgeon at CCF who performed the RP prior to the aforementioned date that had multiple RP redo's. (Which infact does not make him any worse of a surgeon....just the RP is not his 'cup of tea' !)

Sorry Ben for the inaccurate statement - my mom pulled up the info and his profile states he does reops and the ross procedure ( in the same sentence) My guess is she read this wrong. I dont have any statistics - I was trying to first see if it was worth making an appt. with him.
I am just trying my darndest to find the best surgeon as there are not too many who have done reops on the ross.
Again I apologize as I am sure my mom just was excited when she thought she found someone!

Dr. Pettersson was the surgeon for Joann when she had 3 bypass and the 2 mechanical valves replaced. We can not say enough about this fine surgeon. He has kindness, skill, and patient interest with every contact.
We are NOT the Ross experts, but we know that he is assigned patients that need special skills.
We HIGHLY recommend him for any case that he will accept.
