Double Dose - Help !

Before heading to bed tonight at 12:15 am,
I went to my pill box and took the NEXT
dose (from the THURSDAY container).

A minute later, I realized this is actually
WEDNESDAY NIGHT but there were NO
pills in the WEDNESDAY container. I can
only guess that I took the Wednesday dose
earlier with one of my other meds and failed
to record it on my daily log. (I normally
take my evening meds at 9PM (or 10PM
if I busy).

I'm especially concerned because of the
DEEP BRUISE to my shin which BLED OUT
earlier this week, forming small channels
to the heel of my foot (which is swollen
and dark near the heel and purple around
the ankle).

SO, What to do NOW?

I've thought about taking some antacid to
absorb the second dose of Coumadin.

Most likely not a big deal, just skip a dose so you stay on track.

Do you home test?..It will probably be at least Sat. to show up if you did double dose. (INR) Hard call to make on tonight's dose. If I was 100% sure, I had double-dosed..I would probably skip tonight's dose..and start back tomorrow (Friday)... Also, have some V-8 juice..some coleslaw...today.....If INR is high at next Protime check..easy to come back down, tweaking your dose at night....Just my 2 cents..Maybe Mr. Coumadin (Al) will pop in? I wouldn't mess with home remedies. They will just make matters more confusing. Call the doctor and tell him/her what happened and about the bruise.

Usually nothing will happen with one extra double-dose. But with your recent bruise there is a small chance that you could have a problem. I don't think that it is something that I would do anything about, other than enjoy some extra salad. I also would be aware of what is going on, but I wouldn't try to stay awake to see if bleeding started.

Reversing it with vitamin K probably invites as many problems as it solves.
