 Just curious who you should call to report a dog that is left out in the cold day in and day out without a doghouse. Our house is on a corner with the side street being a single lane road that resembles an alley. The house beside us on the other side of this narrow street has a large great dane-looking dog that they leave out almost all the time. This dog is out all night every night and almost all day. It barks all the time so that is how I know it's outside all night. The house has a small covered porch but no dog house. There is no shelter with sides on it anyplace in the yard for this dog to go in for protection. I feel bad for this dog and annoyed at the same time. It's constant barking keeps my kids awake at night and wakes them up in the morning. Unfortunatly their room is on that side of the house. We have reported the people to their landlord but since the people with the dog have done a lot of work to the house the landlord won't do anything about the dog. I don't know what to do. I feel that the dog should be inside when it's this cold out. Plus it has been really windy lately and the wind chill is quite cold. Should I call the police or the humane society or both?

We had the same problem last winter with neighbors. My kids would cry every time we drove past the poor dog sitting in the bottom half of his broken dog house. The top part was broken off and laying on its side. We called the neighbors and asked them to take him into the garage to no avail. I contacted the Police dept they said call the City. I called the City they said call Animal control. Finally Animal control was contacted. After coming out to checkout the problem they gave them a ticket and the dog now is in a good home. Not theirs! It just sickens me when these things happen. My boys wanted to get the man that owned the dog and lock him in the dogrun with no house when its 20 degrees and sleeting for the nite. Wish I could of!!!:D :D

Man's inhumanity to man (& beast). Call the local chapter of the SPCA. If they can't help you, I'm sure they will direct you to the right agency.

Hi, I had the opposite problem with a dog left out all day in the hot sun in Florida. I called the Sheriff's dept. and they sent someone over right away to take care of the problem.

Please report the

Please report the

animal cruelty to any and all who will listen. Even talk with the neighbors (?) personally and ask them if they would like to give the dog another home, if they are unwilling to take care of him/her.

It breaks my heart how people treat animals sometimes. I don't know how they can do it. I don't even understand how people give away their pets after having them for years (for stupid reasons such as "moving"). It just boggles my mind - and Wayne's. We have TOO many cats and rescued a 14-year-old bichon two years ago, BUT even though we are overloaded with pets, we would NEVER give a one of them away.

Our pets are our "hearts" - they are love and the bond you have with a pet is just indescribable. We are our pets guardians and I FIRMLY believe that God will judge each one of us on how we treated the less fortunate on this planet, and that definitely includes our animal friends.

Please report this and I hope something can be done for this poor, neglected doggie. He/she deserves more than that in this life. Thank you for being concerned and doing something about this matter.

Call the Sheriffs office. That is animal cruelity and against the law in Ohio. If they wont come out, they will send someone who will.

What Ross said. You might ask the animal control to withhold your name, tho. Hope they can help this poor, poor animal. When I look at our Sally, I know she spent many nights and days hungry, cold, wet and afraid. We love her so much and treat her more special than the cats because she was abused. well, they were, too. but they are all so precious and love us right back just as much. totally dependent upon humans, these animals are.
