Ok, another Friday, another INR check. The good news is I am up to 2.4. The bad news is my PA told me she wanted to keep me on Lovenox through Sunday morning, to be safe, but I could stop after Sunday morning b/c she konws I am going out of town. She has me coming back in to check on Thursday. I had been taking 12.5 mgs since Tues, and was taking 10 before that since last Friday, and 8 before that for a few days- each time I would get an INR check I would end up increasing by a couple mgs. So now this week she wants me to continue the 12.5 tonight and tomorrow and then every other day 12.5 and 10, with 12.5 4 days and 10 three. She said it would be an increase of like 2.5 for the week. She said since my increase of 12.5 was on Tuesday, I really havent "peaked" yet from that by today.
So my question- does this sound right? Lovenox until Sunday morning? I know she is being conservative but at the same time is willing to let me stop because I am going out of town. She told me her personal opinion would be to keep me on Lovenox until my next INR, but she knows how much i hate them. But at the same time, I am at 2.4, which is soooo close.
Its just frustrating, sorry to whine. Would like some reassurance (again). Thanks.
Ingrid

You should do what the PA says to be safe. Beginning anti-coagulation can sometimes be quite difficult as you now know. As time goes on, it will get more regulated. But for now, your card's office wants to make sure you are covered.

What is your range?

OH BOY, been there done that and still working on it and its been over a year.

Speaking from experience.........do your best and try NOT to get frustrated, trust me it will only make matters worse........there is a good possibility if your stress yourself over this INR your readings may come down even more. Thats what happens with me. Get stressed out and my INR drops.

Relax and don't fret over your readings. It does take time. You've received very good responses so just go with the flow and enjoy your trip.

Congrats to you for getting up to 2.4 ...looks like you are very near the end of this little episode...hang in there for a few more days...you are sooooo close...
