Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say hello and see if anyone could answer this question for me. This week, I have been having a significant amount of chest pain, and my nitro has helped, however, today, I have been feeling sick, my chest feels heavy and I coughed up some frothy pink saliva...Does anyone know if this is part of the heart trouble process? Thanks Harrybaby666:(

Could be. You need to get yourself to the ER and get checked ASAP. It may be nothing, it may be everything.

Harry-

Please go to the ER and have it looked at. It could be a lot of things from bronchitis to CHF.

One of the symptoms of CHF includes coughing up pink frothy fluid, and shortness of breath.

Doctors and necessary testing are the things you need asap. Don't let this continue on.

Please let us know how things go.

Thanks Nancy, I am headed there now.

Thanks Nancy, I am headed there now.

Hi Nancy.

Just wanted to say thanks again, and I will go now and have it checked out. Stay well, and Thanks Harrybaby666:D

Could be CHF, pneumonia, bronchitis, or just about anything but whatever it is, if your coughing up frothy pink stuff, it isn't good.

Please go now!

Hi Nancy....

Hi Nancy....

Hi Nancy,

Trying to keep a positive attitude, I did find out that it is heart failure. I ended up going to urgent care this morning after coughing up more blood. I told the Doctor that in addition to the blood, I have been having chest pains all week, and a friend of mine had noticed that I have been getting sweaty and clammy more often lately. I guess it's time to pay attention to limits, huh... Hope to hear from you soon, and stay well. Harrybaby.:D :D :D

Hi Ross

Hi Ross

Hi Ross,

I am so glad that you told me to go to the doc's. It is heart failure after all. The Doc couldn't find any bronchitis, pneumonia or anything like that. In combination with telling the doc about the chest pains and my friend telling me that I have been clammy and sweaty, The Doc came to the conclusion that it is in fact heart failure. Surprise Surprise!!!! Stay well, and I will talk to you soon. Harrybaby:D :D :D

Hey silly, next time we say go to the ER NOW. Do it. Don't want to see you passing away or ending up in the hospital for an extended vacation because you think things aren't that serious. Sorry if I sound callous, but that is very serious.

I hope your getting the proper treatment to get this under control now. I'm really surprised they didn't admit you to the hospital.

Be well and get rid of the CHF.

Ross

Harry!!

I agree with Ross. Ross, let's whomp him up good. He's a bad boy!

Hope you're on diuretics now. You'll be feeling well soon.

Don't do that again, you hear?

Take care.

So now that you are told it is CHF, what is the next step? Don't you need to be seen by your cardiologist? And tests to see if it is time for valve repair/replacement? I mean, you are in the waiting room, right? Can't you be rid of CHF by having the mitral valve repaired/replaced?

We could blame it on the 666s.........

We could blame it on the 666s.........

Harry Baby,

I gotta tell you what just happened here in my little tourist town. US 666 goes right through Cortez. The merchants here (and across the border in NM) claim to have been hearing complaints from tourists for years about our ?devil?s highway?. They claim people are avoiding Cortez because of the signage!! How hilarious.

Reading our local paper has been more like reading the funny paper. We?ve had letters to the editor saying things like, ?if the driver?s are afraid of the street numbers, they shouldn?t be driving!? Or ?why are we spending all this money? If they insist on changing the signs, lets just turn them upside down!?

But guess what? They did it! 666 is now 471 Unbelievable. LOL

Joe has had two valve replacements, aortic and mitral, he still has CHF, but his heart has a lot of problems in addition to his valves.

It really all depends on the condition of your heart and whether it can keep up with the fluids in your body.

Joe's had CHF for many, many years and it can be controlled quite well with diuretics of varying intensities. But you have to help things out by staying low sodium. So hop on over to the Recipe forum for some good ideas.

As a matter of fact, right now Joe is on an upped dose of Lasix and Potassium because he had a little weight gain 5 1/2 pounds and SOB. We monitor that very closely. His cardiologist gives us the directions for the dosage. For Joe, it's not a do it yourself deal.

He'll be back to the normal dose on Friday.

CHF ebbs and flows. And you have to stay on top of it so it doesn't get too far afield. Your cardiologist should give you some guidelines for when to call him and how to manage it.

CHF

CHF

Nancy:

The point I was trying to make to Harrybaby is that if you wait too long, you may not survive a bout of CHF. And it would seem to me that if he is only 37 yrs. old, then a trip to the ER has to be followed by a review by his cardiologist. Because maybe the valve is getting worse and needs to be repaired/replaced.

I understood timing of surgery for repair/replacement is important, but if he is experiencing CHF, then maybe the time is now?

I Know! I Know!

I Know! I Know!

Hi Ross,

I know I was bad by not going right away, but you have to understand my frustration with the medical field here in New Hampshire. I went to the ER 4 Times by ambulance because of my kidney stones, and all they wanted to do was send me home in pain. It's like I had to fight with them all the way (Added Stress That I don't need) so I thought I would try the urgent care dept. first (alas, they said the same thing. If this happens again, go to the ER first. ) I get so tired of going into the ER (for this and other problems) only to be told " It's nothing". I just wanted to be sure something was going on before I "inconvienienced them. But from now on, I will put my foot down like I should have done in the first place. What is happening to the medical field anyway? Thanks for caring. Harrybaby666 :D :D :D :D

I Know! I Know Part 2

I Know! I Know Part 2

I know I should have gone right then and there Nancy, but as I told Ross, The medical field for some reason in New Hampshire does not want to put his/her best foot forward to dig into the source of the problem, this is why I am hesitant to go, given the fact that every time I go, they quote "find nothing" or chalk it up to anxiety. which tells me that they just don't want to bother, and unfortunately, this is the way it is all over NH. I still feel that because I am on Medicaid that I am treated as low priority and a loser. I wonder why they have to act this way? Thanks for caring, Harrybaby666:D :D :D

I know where your coming from. It's happened to me too, but when it's something like that, I'd much rather inconvenience them and let them send me home then not get it checked. Your life literally is in your hands when it's the heart your dealing with.

The one night they sent me home, I went in with severe chest pain and breathlessness. They gave me an X-ray, listened to a couple of things, took blood gases then gave me a shot of Toradol and sent me home. I was back in there in less then 36 hours, sweating up a storm and turning blue. The intake nurse told me later that she thought she was looking at a deadman.
I was having a major pulmonary hemorrhage. Spent a couple weeks in ICU that time.

My point---You just never know.

Hi Peggy

Hi Peggy

Yes, the doctor did tell me to follow up with my cardiologist to get me into another echocardiogram asap. So I will be calling him first thing tomorrow. As I have told the others, I am probably going to have to shop around for another cardiologist as I am not getting the specifics about what is actually happening to me. all I know is that I get winded by walking up my stairs to my apartment, and on hot days, I have a really hard time breathing, chest heavyness, excessive sweating, and really feel weak. and I have had to fight to get what little info I can whether it be via the ER or from my Doc. How many Doc's can a person go through before he finds one that doesn't take my situation lightly because of my age? I hope he is starting to get this message, through my persistance. Thanks for caring, Stay well Harrybaby:D :D :D :D

I am glad I am not the only one

I am glad I am not the only one

I am sure glad that I am not the only one Ross! I really feel like I have to kick them in the behind to get them to do what they should be doing anyway. I mean how else will they pay for that Porshe they drive? LOL LOL I guess I will have to fight harder. LOL Thanks for caring. Harrybaby:D :D :D
