Just wondering if anyone else on the forum has a Kindle- the e-reader from Amazon.com. I bought one for myself and one for my daughter last winter and we both love it. We have them tied to the same account and read many of the same books, so we can each download a book that we buy for the price of one. (up to five Kindles can download the same book from the same account) Most books are $9.99 and there are many web sites where you can download most of the classics for free. You don't need a computer to download books from the Amazon website- it works wirelessly through the Sprint network. Great when you travel- you never run out of reading material and don't have to tote the books! After having donated over 100 books to charity last year (and still having a bookcase full) , I decided that my love affair with hard covers had to end or my kids would never remember my good attributes when they have to clean out this house some day! If reading is one of your favorite hobbies, take a look- it's pricey, but I think it is well worth the price and will save money in the long run.

You can download audio books to the Kindle and listen to them (not read them at the same time). It has a slot for a memory card and you can also put your music on it if you want to listen to music while you read. I haven't done that- yet!

You could buy the book to download as well as the audio version, assuming both are available. I assume you could look back and forth between the two, but not sure if you could have both open at once. You might try looking at the Kindle forum and see if any mention of it is made there. Go to the Amazon web site and Kindle customer forum. Also you could call customer service with that question.

I looked at it and am holding off, but I like the idea of downloading to multiple kindles. The $9.99 price per book was/is the thing holding me back. I usually read paperbacks because I read so much that I can't afford hardbacks. I read anywhere from 2-5 books per week and $9.99 is more than I pay for a paperback. I really want one of these things, but I don't know how they justify that high of a price per book - the price should at least drop when the paperback comes out!

I read a lot of books as well and I use the public library. I do a lot of my requests through the web site and then go pick them up. I live in a small town and the library here is small but part of a larger library system.
