Im just curious. How many of you work a fulltime job and how many are on disability due to their heart problems. I have been on SS Disability since March 2002. My heart function is better (EF is above 45%) and I wonder if SS will say that I need to go back to work and they cut my disability. My cardiologist tells me he will never suggest to them that I return to work because I have a long history of my heart doing fine for a long period and then wham its not working right and I would have to start disability process all over again. Thoughts?

Disability for hip, lung and heart problems.

I'd need to know more about your case in order to say whether or not they'd send you back to work.

Joe retired on disability a long time ago after his AVR, for the same reasons your doc gave you. It took him a while longer to get SS disability.

But, everyone is quite different. Joe has many other problems due to rheumatic fever damage, so that was the right thing for him to do. He really wanted to work, he enjoyed it, he was a manager. It was a very hard transition for him. It took about 2 years for him adjust.

Those who feel well enough to continue to work, I applaud you.

I work full time - luckily for me 2 AVRs are the only heart issues I've had.
