Just a question to throw out there. I was thinking about getting a Tattoo. Knowing that after having a AVR when we goto a dentist we need to have antibiotics. I'm concerned about tattoo's. Does any one have any experience with this?

Not personally. As I understand it........there is a high incidence of infection. Also bleeding. Being on Coumadin.....not so sure how you would fare.

Consult with your MD!

You have a tissue valve, so it may be different, your doctor should know, but if I were to get a tatoo, I would be on antibiotics... :)

this discussion's been had before with about the same comments as above. If you want to search for it, probably you can find it if you just look in 'tattoo'.

Hi

I've asked my Cardiologist this question and he advised that to be on the safe side with tattoos and piercings it's best to take the same dose of antibiotic as you would when you go to the dentist. He also pointed out the obvious that you should choose somewhere that's clean and hygienic and uses fresh needles.
