It's been 10 months since my AVR. I went to my cardiologist last month for a six month check up. He said everything was fine and come back in a year. I asked him if I needed any tests and he said he listened to my heart very carefully and everything sounded great. I'm a little uneasy with his response and I'm wondering if I should insist on any tests.

There really is no set standard for follow up testing. Most Doctors like to have yearly echos just to keep track of things, but not all. Some even do every 6 months, which is overkill and expensive. Myself, I'd be more comfortable if he did do one at least every year.

Good question. My answer will not help you much. Sometimes I wonder the same thing myself. I had a check up with my cardiologist.this past Feb. after 11 months AVR. He also told me everything sounds good and to see him in a year. He is highly respected so I did not question it.
