Girl from Holland

Hello there,

I don’t write a lot here but I read (almost) everything.
I want to share my feature with some of you…
I realise that you can do nothing but I want to share it with everybody…

At December I went to my cardio in the Hospital.
I went there because I felt dizzy all the time and because of my headache.
My symptoms and my history make her afraid.
She wants to let me do an echo ( , is this the word that you use too ??).
Because of that she (my cardio is a woman) told me that I has to be operated before the and of the year  .
Half of December we went back and we hear a unbelievable news.
The professor of the division is to afraid to operate me.
He said that the risk is too big.
The last time (of 5) I had a stroke. I was in a coma for a week.
All this was in 2001.
My cardio says that they are going to search all over the world by their colleagues to find a solution for my problem.
The last operation they get advice out of Canada.
I’ve had a valve replacement, a Ross procedure and 3 times a reconstruction at valve and aortic.
My cardio told us that e must have consider the possibility of a heart of a donor but she told us also that that is a great risk too.
At this moment I feel great. The dizziness is (far, far) away and a I haven’t had a headache for a couple of weeks.
I’m a afraid of the feature but I also refuse to believe that the end is near…
I keep my faith….

Sorry for my bad English, to speak English is must easier than too write it.
But that you’ve already experienced

Lots of love, Karin

Hi Karin, wow, what a scary thing to be told! Sounds like you have had a lot of experience with heart surgeries....what was the surgery that they were planning prior to telling you that it couldn't be done?

I am so glad that you don't currently have symptoms. That is a big plus.

Are heart transplants done at a hospital near you? I know the idea is scary, but at least they seem to feel that you are well enough to undergo that surgery.

I know that some other folks on the site are also on a potential transplant list so you are not alone.

Of course you are getting a second (and third? or fourth?) opinion on your situation?

Let us know how you are doing.

Welkom terug Hollandse vriendin.

Welkom terug Hollandse vriendin.

Hallo Karin, :)

Dikke omhelzing,
Christina :D :D

Hello Karin. It is good to see you again, but I am sorry about the situation that you are in. We once had a member who had a transplant. She was from Denmark (I believe) and her name is Jessica. Maybe you can search the site and find her posts. She was young and living pleasantly. We hope you don't have to do this. It sounds like your doctor is searching diligently for answers. There is so much in the medical world that is available and they will perhaps find a solution that won't require a transplant. My sincerest prayers are for you.

Hi Karin
I'm currently going to the Clevland clinic for open heart surgery February 7th
while looking at the Statitics I noticed that heart transplant there had a 93% sucess rate. I don't know if you have socilized medical in Denmark or if your insurance would cover going to the United States - Clevland Clinic is in Ohio.
So if the Doctors in Denmark are unable to make the repairs there maybe foundations to help with the cost.
