Harpoon

Dunno how many out there are on diuretics but I know there are at least a few who might have some insight here...

Thursday (really Wednesday evening, but who's counting here?) I came down wiht a nice, hard, cold. Still got it now, though I think I'm improving, but I've noticed I'm holding onto a lot more water than is usual (generally, I don't retain any these days.)

Does anyone else experience this when they get sick? Taper off of fluid output or that feeling of "fullness" all over that comes with water retention?

Just wondering...

Sorry about the cold, Harpoon. As a matter of fact, something kin to that has happened to me twice. Once while I was in the process of getting my heart problems diagnosed, I had some kind of upper respiratory infection and really felt like a balloon. I was put on an antibiotic (just in case) and was off my feet for two days before I had my first heart cath. The night before the heart cath I lost eight lbs of fluid. The other time was when I had the ischemic colitis last January. I was in the hospital and I really just felt so full of fluid. My legs felt tight and my skin generally felt too small. I was in for 9 days and after a few days I had a major diuresis and suddenly I had ankles again. I had a couple days where my output was over 5,000cc.

Is there a link or merely coinsidence...I don't know. I'm sure the bedrest helped eliminate the extra fluid though.

I sure hope you feel better soon. We can't do without our VR.com photographer and the fella who makes even salt-free entrees sound delicious.

Must be the cold pills, Steve. Every darn one of them says, "Take with a full glass of water."

I wonder if the instructions with the Lasix tabs say the same thing?

Best wishes,

:)

I'm a VERY good boy and I don't take cold medications I'm not suppposed to, even though I'm REALLY dying for a shot of NyQuil right now because I know it makes all the cold symptoms go away...

If only it wouldn't speed my heart up over 150 bpm for hours on end.....

They say if you get a cold you should be sure to eat and drink plenty of fluids.

Well the eating isn't too much of a problem, though I didn't have much of an appetite yesterday (that's a sure sign I'm not on my game by the way, I'm ALWAYS in the mood for food.)

Hard to drink plenty of fluids when you're sick when you're also on diuretics to prevent fluid retention...

Tonight for dinner I had two yes TWO baked potatos, load up on the potassium.

Also upped the lasix dose some, though it doesn't seem to be helping much.

Just kinda trying to let things follow their course for the moment.

I do get

I do get

A 'stuffed' feeling with a cold or flu, usually when I see my gp , he scipts antibiotics as Im in chf..ups my lasix.. rest etc... so I do feel for you, just leaning over to tie a shoelace will take your breath away. Hope you feel better soon..Love Yaps

I guess I'm getting better, more or less...

Wake up wiht a whole hell of a lot of crap to clear out and that's a real pain that I'd rather not ever have to deal with.

My face (sinuses) isn't feeling like it's about to explode which I guess is a good thing. Still not feeling great, but I got to sleep in some for once which was helpful.

Tomorrow morning I start college classes. First time in about ten years. Gonna try and work towards and associates in fine arts with the intent to transfer into a SUNY college here in town. Dunno how far it will go, but I'm sick of making $6 an hour as a "professional" photographer at a newspaper.

I'm sorry, but SCALE for the kind of work I do is over $56 grand a year, and then some because I also do a fair amount of writing and I can do pagination when needed.

If you look at my job responsiblities versus a job description that fits what I'm doing, I'm a photo-journalist and that, at full time pay, is over $70 grand a year...

So I'm gonna try my hand at getting the piece of paper that says I can do what I've been doing for the past 5 years and MAYBE I'll be able to make a living wage at it when I'm done.

If I survive being around folks 10 years (or more?) younger than me for the next 4 years!!!!
