I came in here a couple months ago after a new cardiologist told me my BAV is now accompanied by a dilated aorta that I'd need an MRI to check out. Well, had the MRI in July and doc went on maternity leave right after telling me I'm ok to get pregnant.

The echo had shown the ascending aorta at 35mm, but MRI showed 39mm. Doc said I am approved for pregnancy without surgery at <45mm.

Finally called the doc again today to get my results in writing and wanted to post some of them here in case anyone has any input! I'm a little confused about how close a 39mm ascending aorta with BSA 1.48 is to being an aneurysm instead of just dilated. I go back for a follow up in December.

Height: 60"
Weight: 115 lbs
BSA: 1.48

LV EF: 58%
RVEF: 62%

Ascending aorta: 39 mm
Descending aorta: 17 mm
Aortic arch: left sided
Other comments on aorta...
Sinus of valsava: 34x32 mm
Sinotubular junction: 33x33 mm
Ascending aorta: 34x32mm
Ascending aorta prior to right bracheocephalic: 28x23mm
Aortic arch: 19x17mm
Descending arch: 15x17mm
Descending aorta at the diaphragm: 14x14mm

Conclusions:
Normal LV volume with LVEF of 58%
Normal RV volume with RVEF of 62%
Dilated ascending aorta
Bicuspid AV without significant AI

Hello,

I am sorry I don't have an answer for you, but hopefully the docs are on top of things and have indexed the measurements to your body size.
Hopefully someone else will chime in who has more knowledge of aneurisms.
