Can anyone give me some info on the differences in beta blockers like toprol xl/bisoprolol and Digoxin?

Are they commony prescribed and taken together?

What effect does each have on the heart and tachycardia?

What meds interact w/these meds and which ones do I absolutely
need to avoid? Ibuprofen???

Is it important to have regular blood work drawn to check the levels of Digoxin in the blood?

ie: my interest is b/c I seen new cardiologist this last friday and he put me on Digoxin 2x daily for 3 days then 1 a day. He also kept me on Toprol XL but reduced it to 1x a day 50mgs. (Was at 75mgs a day) I am waiting on a call from his office about if I need to have blood work drawn. See him again in March for echocardiogram. Thanks for any help, and happy holidays all!! Erica

This might be a question better addressed by Mr. Al Lodwick. I would think he would have the knowledge to answer this best. You may want to send him an email about it.

I'm an amateur, but this is the second time in my life I've taken both. Digoxin strengthens the heartbeats. Generally they get dig level and if it's OK they check maybe once a year unless something looks funny (extremely slow heartbeat, for instance).

Beta blockers are for hbp, and tachycardia, and arrythmias, and lots of what ails ya.

And I think they're commonly prescribed together.
