I have been wanting to go to a gym since my surgery but was always too lazy, so I finally started going. I also started my diet for the new year. On Jan. 1st I weighed 301lbs, as of Saturday I am 277, My goal for this year is 230, and then to start building up some muscle. Once I hit 301 I knew I had to do something and start getting healthy.

Wow! 23lbs. in a month is a lot of weight! Don't be discouraged if you don't keep up that pace, okay? I hope you took a "before" picture so you can post side-by-sides when you're skinny. Keep up the good work, Mike!

You deserve this month's medal - maybe next month's, too. My son once went on a diet, ate at Burger King or McDonald's - only their salads. He lost much weight. He also lifted weights and became a real hunk.

He got married to an 80 lb beauty who cooks. He's not on his diet anymore and should read your post. Congratulations.

Great job Mike.

Keep it up and you will be our poster person for what you can accomplish after OHS. Sounds like 230 will not be very far away.

Make sure you eat healthy tho - don't want to get sick.;) ;)

Mike:
Congratulations on your weight loss from someone who has lost 3 pounds in the last 5 weeks. Looks like I need some pointers from you. Seriously, you are to be praised for taking control of a very difficult process and coming out a real winner on the first month! Will you share with us some of the things you did to accomplish this important start to your goal of 230? Again, congrats!

Congratulations on the weight loss. I did the same thing post mvr and avr. Only lost about 50 pounds though. I'm struggling to keep it off and doing reasonably well at that; have discovered that it was easier for me to lose it than keep it lost! Keep up the good work.

My wife and I have been following the Weight Watchers plan using the point system. I think it works great. The good thing about it is that you still can eat some of the foods that you did before, you just have to eat the right proportion, that is the biggest key with everything. I tend to eat alot of salads, and sandwiches w/ wheat bread. I started going to the gym about 2-3 times a week using the treadmill and bike, its usually a 45 min workout. The sometimes on the weekend I will take a 1-2 mile walk. Oh and another important thing is drinking atleast 8 cups of water a day, it really helps.

If you would like any other information or any help, just let me know. I will keep everyone up to date, I usually do it every 2 weeks.
