After having a nonexistent Mothers Day, I get a letter in the mail today regarding my drivers licence.

A quick summery: I used to teach Driver Education and I had to get a class 4 licence to teach. When you have more than just an average licence, you are required to get a complete physical (and then some) very 4 to 5 years.

Well it looks like my time is up. Our licence issuer (Government run) has sent me their " Commercial Driver's Licence medical Report" form.

On the form it asks about your vision (Horizontal Fields, 20/20 ect.), the senses (vertigo, hearing aids ect), Central Nervous System (TIA's, Head Injury, Fainting/Blackouts etc), Respiratory (Sleep Disporder, COPD, CPAP), **CARDIOVASCULAR** (CAD, Hypertension, Angina Pectoris, Heart Surgery [Angioplasty, CABG, Pacemaker, *Other*], Stress Test, ICD (?), Arrhythmia, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Aneurysm)

3 years ago my husband had his form done and it cost $85.00. What do I do? Get it filled out by the doctor, pay the $$$ and then find out that I'm disqualified to hold a class 4.

The class 4 licence entitles me to drive limo's, small buses, taxie's and others, which I've done on a "when needed" bases (except for taxi).

If I don't get this form filled, my licence will refer back to a normal class 5.

I'm just bummed out, after yesterday another thorn in my side.

I've tried phoning the Licence Issuer to get an answer, but they won't give me an answer until they see this form filled out by the doctor.

Crap!
Thanks for taking the to read this. I'm venting, but if you have any thoughts, please express them

Why would they reject you? Do you pass out while driving? Had an accident as a result of such an incident? I think your jumping to conclusions and may regret not even trying. Of course, if your never going to need that class of license again, that's one thing, but if you need it to make a living, at least give it a try. I've found that you have to fight for everything worth fighting for.

I've kept up my motorcycle license, even though I haven't had a real bike in years.....we have teeny tiny bikes now, but I guess it would be kind of like getting a kick in the butt if the gov't took away that privilege. So, go for it.

Yea, I also have a motorcycle endorsement, which they can't take away, just the "class" if they feel if there is just-cause.

Ross, my answers to your questions is no, but I feel they may think I'm risk.

Wow Freddie, that sucks

did not realize that SK, was almost as bad as QC for that stuff. Cadiologist did mention to me a few months ago (pre-op) that he would have removed by big rig driving privileges if i had big rig driving permit and that was a wakeup call for me.

Cardiologist also recommended no driving (pre-op) which is tough because of country home and great distances, but have reduced driving to be sure and am looking out to pull over if any symptom, on infrequent driving.

For those that do not know, Saskatchewan (Freddie's country) is a BIG open space, lightly populated...sometimes you need the wind in the face that a mbike or other offers, beyond walking

good luck with the bureaucracy Freddie...hope it works out

The key my love, is to convince them that you are not a risk, because you have been repaired. It's doable. Believe me, if Pilots can still fly, you can still drive with that class of license. I held a Chauffeurs license which is pretty much equivalent to yours. I didn't renew mine because I stopped working.

Freddie, I know a little of how you feel. I submitted my paperwork to officially retire my RN license as of July 1. I didn't have to do it but I really don't see me ever going back to work. I didn't have to take a physical or anything like that to renew my license but it was more of the thought that I just couldn't do it anymore. Maybe you would surprise yourself though and pass it with flying colors.

Thanks everyone.
Gil,
The population in this Province of Saskatchewan is 1,038,018 over an area of 228, 445.06 square miles and flat like a pancake.

I'll phone the doc's office tomorrow to see what they charge, maybe make an appointment and take it from there.
