Quick question to those post-op:

How long was it before you could take a satisfying deep breath without any pain? I'm six weeks out and breath deeply pretty well, but I still feel some pain in my lungs preventing me from taking a REALLY deep breath. Everything still feels a little constricted. I'm only six weeks post-op, and actually I think I would feel perfectly fine if not for the breathing issue.

Thanks!

and last night was the first night that I sould take a deep breath without any pain at all....it was a great feeling....I still feel it when I sneeze or cough but I can breath deep again....so it shouldnt be long for you. Good luck!

It takes a while. The lungs take a pounding with OHS. Did they give you breathing exercises to do? Will

I'd forgotten all about that.

I'd forgotten all about that.

I had regular breathing exercises to do...

I remember being afraid to breathe too deeply.

This too shall pass!

Mike,

I agree with the others that it takes time. I remember it took quite a while for me to get the ball up far enough on that breathing apparatus ... partly because of the pain of deep breaths.

Still, it never hurts to let your cardiologist (or surgeon) know that you are concerned.....

Good luck ... thoughts/prayers coming your way.
