Many of us on this site have a goodly number of years to look back upon in our quiet moments. I am talking about the times when our mind escapes the urgent. An escape that?s long enough for a moment?s contemplation of the things that have been defining moments in our lives.

With some new found (and hopefully temporary) disabilities, I have leaned on my dear wife of 35 years in ways I never contemplated. The sock on my right foot is there as the result of her love and attention. It is funny how something as small as a sock has led my morning thoughts away from the trivial and onto the relationship and love that defines the best part of my life. These present disabilities may be temporary, but there are others waiting a little further down the road.

Last night I found a smaller, but still dear treasure. I am a great fan of Bruce Springsteen. Late last night I was watching a televised concert. It ended with a song I had never heard, a song that brought tears to my eyes. It is a simple song, the lyrics are short. I know these words have not been true for everyone. But they have been true for me, and I am a very blessed man.

?We said we'd walk together baby come what may
That come the twilight should we lose our way
If as we're walkin a hand should slip free
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me

We swore we'd travel darlin' side by side
We'd help each other stay in stride
But each lover's steps fall so differently
But I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me

Now everyone dreams of a love lasting and true
But you and I know what this world can do
So let's make our steps clear that the other may see
And I'll wait for you
If I should fall behind
Wait for me

Now there's a beautiful river in the valley ahead
There 'neath the oak's bough soon we will be wed
Should we lose each other in the shadow of the evening trees
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
Darlin' I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me

There are lots of songs with lyrics worthy of memorizing and if possible, living. This is another one of those.:)

often we hear sentiments from women about their loved ones, but seldom from men. This is twice this week we have heard an expression of love from a loving husband. I, for one, appreciate this. It's wonderful when you make it all the way there. Thank you for sharing with us.

Hi Denis

Bruce Springsteen is my favourite singer !!!!
I have been lucky enough to have seen him seven times over the years and enjoyed every performance, ( the last being in May 2008 )

The lyrics to that song are really powerful ( and to hear Bruce singing them is a treat)

I have a lot of Live Bootleg stuff which I listen to all the time,

A very dear friend introduced us to Springsteen in 1980 and Bill went to the River Tour in 1981 in Birmingham Uk and it cost 5 pounds ( about 10 dollars ) and the show lasted almost 4 hours,
sadly our friend Michael died in 2003 just before we were due to see Bruce in Manchester and when Bruce sang " Your Missing " it was so sad for us, we copied the lyrics and left them at Michaels grave the day after the concert
