I have just set up the surgery date it will be 12/3/03 I decided against the mechanical valve. I'm sure glad you were there to talk with, it's close and yes I'm scared but I am told I have picked a great ssurgeon andd that the hospitol is one of the best in the area.

Hi Diana,
Good Luck on your upcoming surgery. Where are you having it done? I am from Western MA . I have not had surgery yet so I can't give you any good advice, but I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Good luck my friend,
You"ll be fine and you will beat me by two days. You will be looking at going home when I go in. But we will both be fine and fit as a fiddle in few months. I will be thinking of you.

Alright, Diana!

You will be in my prayers.

Once the decsion is made you can just keep moving toward it. Sooner is better (can you imagine scheduling 2 or 3 months out?)

I switched to tissue after leaning towards mech. He ended up using a homograft because of the root being distended.

Most of our fears are because of the unknown - I'm sure you have looked thru all the forums and threads. It really helps to have your eyes open.

Good luck and God bless you. Can't wait to see your posts after surgery.

Good luck Diana. The decision of what valve to use and the waitng are the hardest parts. At least you r wait won't be long. Don't worry , you will do fine. We will all be cheering you on!

Hi Diana and Best Wishes for a successful surgery. I'm sure you will be fine. You will definitely be placed in my prayers. It's the right decision, and remember, you'll be feeling pretty great by Christmas.....I remember that once Tyce got the date, all we wanted....well, all I wanted, was for it to be done and ok.....amazing what you go through emotionally while waiting, isn't it!!! That is the worst part.

Be well, you're on the prayer list!!

Evelyn

Good luck! I'm right behind you and envious you'll be done! I think you made the right choice on valve, I'd have picked tissue too if mine had been aortic. They can last a long, long time. Please let us know how it goes.

I will be praying for you on Wed. along with all the others.
Expect a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. Trust in the
Lord. He will not fail to be there for you.:D :)

Diana,

Believe me when I say the prayers and well wishes from the people on this board will carry you through your surgery. I know the people here at VR.com prayed me through! All praise to God of course!

You will be fine - it really is true when people say to take one day at a time after the surgery - as I am three weeks and a few days out - it is a day-to-day recovery process.

God bless and keep you -

Good luck and Godspeed

Diana,

I'm officially a "rookie member" too, but I'll be thinking of you on the third. My prayers will go with you, too.

Best of luck, Diana. We'll all be breathlessly awaiting notice of how you did (hint hint - we hope there's someone to post while you're in the hospital). May your mountain be a molehill. You'll have lots of company going into surgery - we're a pushy group - our prayers and good wishes will crowd out any negative influences.

If you have one, practice with the spirometer before surgery. It'll decrease your frustration level in the hospital.

Have a really nice couple of days - good food, drink and company. Be sure you have comfortable lounge clothes for when you get home - especially with Christmas coming people will stop by and you'll want to look good as well as be comfortable.

All my best.

Diana,

I'll be praying for you. I had my Ross done on 11/18/03 and even though they had to go back in on the next day to fix a leak in my aorta I still came home on 11/23/03. I've been home a week and feel pretty good. I was out putting up Christmas lights yesterday! You do have to rest a lot but as everyone says it gets better each day. Best wishes on a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

Regards,

Jim
