Does anyone here who has had a heart attack NOT remember the exact date?

It seems impossible to me but I know that yesterday was our good friend's first anniversary of having survived a heart attack a year ago and he seemed to not remember the date. He seemed to cruise along as though yesterday was nothing special. We remembered it but he did not seem to. We chose to say nothing as we thought was how he wanted it...though we did comment to his wife.

It's impossible for me to have the date of my heart attack pass without my taking close notice of what a special date it is in my life.

Anyone else ever have 'that' date go by without taking special notice of it?

(This is a very bright, well educated professional person.......not that it necessarily makes any difference. ;)

I have not had a heart attack but I do know some people simply prefer to put such things behind them. Everyone deals with life threatening issues differently and he is probably just someone who feels it is in the past and he wants it to stay there.

No heart attack here, but I do not want to be reminded of my surgery any at all. It was a nightmare and I prefer it just not be brought up.

I couldn't tell you what I had for lunch yesterday tho....

I remember all too well the dates of medical events, but I do not celebrate
or bring attention to them in my daily life. It your friend seems not to remember, then he is lucky because his life is back to normal. God has blessed him.:)

I remember the month and year, not the day - because my hospital told me I did NOT have a heart attack. Just GERD! Then I went to a cardio who confirmed a heart attack. I certainly remember the date of my bypass surgery, tho.

April 20th 2003 10pm, at work...but not much memory after that..

I agree, Yaps, that I clearly recall the date/time of my heart attack, I remember arriving at the ER but only have scant memory of the rest of the evening. I remember bits and pieces of the ambulance ride when they transferred me to Massachusetts General Hosp. and then only snippets of spending 4 days in CICU before my surgery. After the surgery is when my memory starts to return but then again, there are lots of blanks.

JKM7 -- I am not sure of my exact date. It was sometime around March 15 of this year. It was a mild MI and was the result of losing half my blood right after a colonoscopy. The end result was I received a much closer "look" and that's when it was decided I shouldn't wait any longer for my AVR. Now THAT date, I 'll never forget -- April 12.
