My family celebrated my dad's 80th birthday today -- 3 days early, since it was a weekend.
Am mentioning this because we did something that others may want to do also for a loved one's birthday.
Of course, we all gave Daddy gifts. But the one he treasured the most was a ring-binder notebook filled with recollections from all of us -- down to his cat, Millie!!!!!!!!!! -- and photos too.
He opened the notebook, read the cover and first page and was speechless. He smiled and said, "This is going to take quite a long time to read through."
I don't know what everyone wrote, but I wrote about his taking me for my first day of school (first grade, since Dallas TX schools didn't offer kindergarten in 1956), among other things.
One of my nieces had coordinated the notebook and she and her other aunt had printed off photos of various family members with my dad.
Just thought others might want to give a notebook of memories to a loved one, too.
