Hi everyone!
I feel like I know so many of you! I've been reading and learning a lot here in the last few months. I've admired all of you for your strength, courage, and caring for each other. I'm praying for you. The power of prayer is so strong when so many pray together.
My concerns are w/ my dad. He has been healthy until recently. He is 78, and was diagnosed w/ and aortic "bulge" (4.9) back in November. He's known about an aortic leak for the last 3 years. They only did an echo in Nov., and the Dr. said his heart is strong, and he didn't feel it was necessary to do a cath or a cat scan at that time. "See you in 3 months". Well, my dad has been feeling pretty much ok. He is still quite active, but I'm concerned that his BP doesn't seem to be under control, and from what I've read, this is not good at all w/ his aorta enlarged to 4.9 (or more by now). I would really like to find another good cardio and surgeon in the North Los Angeles area, especially a surgeon who has seen many seniors w/ this problem. We need a 2nd opinion. If you know of a great Dr in L.A., please send me a private msg or email me at [email protected]

Thank you and God Bless!;)

Aniper while I can't recommend anyone, you should know that should the aorta enlarge to 5cm, he will be in danger of rupture. Please don't wait for references. Start calling around now.

I believe Bruizer and Conk had their's done at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena by Dr. Starnes..E-mail Bruizer..Look under members. click on B's..and find Bruizer..Bonnie

Thanks for your replies Ross and Bonnie. Dr. Starnes office is closed today for the holiday, but I will call 1st thing tomorrow. I checked his web site, and he looks like a specialist in cardiothoracic surgery. Is this the correct line of expertise for my dad? Aortic aneurysm repair was last on his list of "clinical intersets". Dad has an ascending aortic "bulge", (as per his dr.), as well as that leaky AV.

I told my dad about this site, and hope he starts paying attention. He and my mom need to get proactive about this.

Thank you!

He is the same doctor who Gov. Arnold S. has...They found my aneurysm at 5..and said to operate now..that was almost 2 years ago. I am age 63 and doing great. bonnie
