The very first time I had to get out of bet and sit on a chair, I - due to the pain we all know - bent my head and shoulder down when I reached the edge of the bed. The nurse, who had a great sense of imagination and humor, lifted my head up and with a very joyful voice asked me to lift my shoulders high and stand straight getting ready to dance the limbo! I found that smart and the imagery soothed the pain away as we laughed trying to perform the first steps of the dance--standing straight, chin and head up, shoulders straight to face the audience, then after the dance, you bow a bit down, and sit keeping the shoulders and head up straigh and smile to the audience.
I kept this technique and still use it when I tend to bend my shoulders
I just liked to share this memory , and which others can think of during the first difficult times coming out of bed.
