Good news here! Our PCP's nurse called today with preliminary CT scan results. She said Jerry's aneurysm is still stable. We're happy to be able to put off surgery for at least another 6 months. We'll quit dwelling on the aneurysm and get back to normal life until the next scan.

We were amazed to get a phone call this soon--the CT scan was only done Fri.

Ross, it has stayed stable at 5.2-5.3 cm since Jan '04 when it was first discovered. Due to his previous heart surgeries, surgeons opt for watchful waiting. They figure the risks of surgery outweigh the risk of waiting. I know your experience and it lurks in the back or my mind all the time. As far as we know, he was not BAV. I've asked, and they look at me as if I have two heads. Maybe they're surprised that a mere mortal has ever heard of BAV. But I do feel that some sort of familial thing is going on due to other members of his family having similar things, such as AVRs and aneurysms, hernias, etc.
