On Feb.24th I did a CT scan with contrast because my surgeon needed to know the size of the ascending aorta. Results show hat it is dialated to 47mm, was wondering if anyone can tell me what these numbers may imply. I've done a little research and only found that this is moderate dilation on one website and on another websight it implied that this was an aneurysm. Any thoughts on the matter will be greatly appreciated. My Dr. has not gotten back to me with his recommendation, probably because I received the info before he did. Also there was some mention about an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

It's possible for it to be enlarged and not be an aneurysm, but not very likely. Did they say anything about ballooning? 4.7 is fairly large and 5.0 is considered time to move on it. On a side note, mine was about that large when it ruptured. I never got to 5.0, so definately be speaking to your Doctor about these findings. ;)

Thanks for input

Ross I appreciate the input. Judging by the time on the clock and when you posted the reply, you must sleep as often as I do. I don't know what time zone you are in but it is relatively early all over, unless of course you don't sleep much. Have decided to visit with dentist on the 28th and see if the cavities in the wisdom teeth will be alright for a while and schedule the surgery ASAP as per the recommendation of the surgeon, not going to worry about work or anything else for that matter, going to get well for myself and family. Here's a good one though Ross, the people at my workplace ( I'll refer to them as idiots) have started to circulate the rumor around that I am only having this surgery so I will have time off to go Turkey hunting. Good one huh?

You have my full permission to slap them silly! If any of them has the balls to come into your face about it, ask them to go through it for you, since it's such a great holiday. It sure would be nice if people knew what they were talking about, but they don't and never will.

Bear,

The idots (people at your workplace) sound about as insensitive and uncaring as my primary care doctor. They have no clue what we are going through. I am a little more fortunate in the workplace. I have co-workers who want to donate vacation days to me but they cannnot because I would have not been there a year until May. I kind of suspected something like this would happen so we have been planning for it. Will you be having the surgery close enough to your work so that those people at work who do support you can visit you at some point while you are in the hospital? If so, they can help to disspell those nasty rumors.

Karl

Bear,

Are you sure you don't work for my FORMER employer? :D I'm not even going to rehash what they did to me and how they treated me or I'll have to pop an extra beta-blocker. Just ask them to come and visit you in ICU right after your surgery, or better yet ask a loved one to take a picture of you and make sure the rumor mongers get to see it. ;)

I like the idea of the picture and a little caption that says "having a wonderful time, wish you were here, turkey hunting has never been better". To answer a few questions about sick leave. I have only been employed at this facility for just over a year and after the wonderful reception I get from some of the employees I don't want to trouble them for a few hours of vacation, (they may turn that against me too.) I will be having surgery 200 miles from my hometown and about 150 miles from where I work. ( I drive 46 miles one way to put up with this but the pay is much better than I can get in my hometown, that and there are no jobs available for what I do right now.) I did however get a heads up on a possible job in a hospital only 52 miles from home where I did clinicals, and will jump at that one if the position opens. I also talked to a friend of mine that I hadn't seen for some time and not knowing that he had valve repair only 1 year ago. He related that after he was put under the anesthesiologist noticed a loose tooth. When he came to the Dr. told him all of his teeth would have to come out. The next day they pulled all his teeth, he recovered for 6 weeks and had the surgery.

Well I'm sure we can manage to find a Wild Turkey to mount above you or hang from your I.V. tree. Do you think you can hold the firearm while in bed? We could have a lot of fun with this if you want. :D
