I don't drink alot of it, but when the wife buys some, I'm forced too. I've never ever seen any change in INR on my end.

So what's the bottom line Al? I don't want to read all that, can we have cranberry's at Thanksgiving or not?:)

Thanks Al. I love cranberry juice and usually have multiple servings per day and I'm glad that you have provided this information to us. Thanks again.

Cranberry

Hi there,

One of things my surgeon mentioned was not drinking cranberry juice so since the op, I've told my wife to tell the milkman to stop the Friday bottle with our milk, but are we now saying it's OK?

Which is great as I'm quite partial to cranberry!

Cheers

Steve

It appears that one or two people said that they had bad reactions to warfarin and cranberry juice. Without any further investigation, the news media picked up on these and made it sound as if there were a world-wide rash of people dropping dead by the minute. As a result people (even in the medical field) who know little or nothing about warfarin suddenly knew one "fact" -- cranberry juice and warfarin kill. So they became very "helpful" and saved millions of lives by telling people to not drink cranberry juice. As proof they could ask, "Have you heard of anyone dropping dead from the interaction lately?"

Two of the most important things to learn about warfarin are
1. Friends (even medical professional friends) are not usually very helpful
2. Advertising does not apply to you.

If you haven't read it for awhile, please look at my page of outrageous advice that warfarin-takers have reported. http://warfarinfo.com/outrageous.htm

It'll be interesting to see what the anticoagulation clinic say about this, if anything. Last year they sent out a slip of paper in Jim's INR record book saying something along the lines of - there had been some reports of an interaction, and that until it had been investigated they recommended that people on warfarin avoided cranberry juice. I'll be surprised if they actually bother telling people it's OK really, but I guess you never know...

Its also the one thing I have avoided with Chloe cos we were told about the interaction. She still eats veg, green or not but have avoided cranberry. May try her on some juice now I know the facts as she does suffer slightly with water infections and cranberry juice is meant to be good for avoiding them.
Can always keep a closer eye on INR with coaguchek anyway

Thanks Al
