Hi everyone, a while ago I was very concerned about using a CPAP machine for my recently diagnosed sleep apnea. Much to my surprise, I was able to use it without much of a problem at all. It is the new kind, a c-flex, which is adaptable to each individual's breathing. My previous try was with a regular one and it is very hard to breath out against the incoming pressure. This one was so much easier.
It is cardiac related, in that apparently sleep apnea can cause or exacerbate arrythmias and high blood pressure both of which I have. So I am very hopeful that when I get the machine at home, I will be easing the burden on my heart!
During the sleep lab test they also noted that using the CPAP decreased my restless leg movements (while asleep, unfortunately, not the rest of the time). So apparently that is also connected.!!!
If anyone snores a lot, or is very tired during the day, it might be worth asking your doc about the possibility of sleep apnea and testing for it. It clearly is not a good thing to have if you have a cardiac condition ( or even if you don't!)
