sometimes tissue valve patients are on coumadin for a little while but usually get off after initial time. the tissue valves aren't mandatory to be on coumadin for lifetime.
I was on it temporarily, for three months post-op; I think that may be fairly common. Just today or yesterday I saw another thread where a few members with tissue valves posted similar experiences.
I just had my mitral valve replaced with a bovine and will be on warfarin for about 2-3 months. If all goes well, all my doctors said they will then take me off it.
I'm still not at therapeutic level.....seems by the time they get me in the range they want, I'll be just about ready to stop it.
