Anybody have any actual figures or web site on how long it takes for coumadin to dissipate after you stop taking it.I have searched high and low and can't seem to find the info.

Randy,
I am pretty sure it takes 3 or 4 days but it could take up to 5 in some patients which I guess is why they use the 5 day number when stopping. I drop pretty quickly so, obviously, it can vary from patient to patient.

I did not drop quickly, so I bet it varies from person to person.

It does vary from person to person, that's a given. As far as publication of possible numbers---

The half-life of racemic warfarin ranges from 20 to 60 hours. The mean plasma half-life is approximately 40 hours, and the duration of effect is two to five days.10 Thus, the maximum effect of a dose occurs up to 48 hours after administration, and the effect lingers for the next five days.

Well I will let you guys know how it works, on me anyways.
I take my coumadin at 7 am each morning which I skipped today.
tested at 230pm and results were 1.9 INR
will let you know tomorrow what happens

Randy I wanted to make sure you saw that post from Al Capshaw I added to your other thread. Just to be sure you saw it.

In general the larger the warfarin dose you take, the faster the INR will drop. If you need a large dose, it is because your liver metabolizes the warfarin very fast.

People who take small doses will have their INR drop much more slowly. They do not metabolize warfarin very rapidly.
