This is a bit off topic, but haven't been able to find any info anywhere else so far.
My 80-year-old father-in-law in Indiana is suffering from stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Last week they discovered he had developed diabetes and put him on Insulin. Then at his checkup yesterday they discovered blood clots in his lungs, started Lovenox shots and told him he would have to start taking Coumadin.
He and my mother-in-law are overwhelmed and called with questions about my experiences with Coumadin and Lovenox. The one question I couldn't answer was what, if any, interaction there may be between his insulin injections and the Lovenox/Coumadin anti-coagulants. (His doc hasn't been very good about explaining things). The one saving grace at this point is that my mother-in-law is diabetic and is used to giving herself insulin injections, so she is able to give my father-in-law his insulin and lovenox injectons - he wouldn't be capable to do that on his own.
Any cause for concern? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
