I just had a colonoscopy a few days ago and they removed a polyp. I've never had any bleeding problems until I started taking Coumadin after my valve replacement. Since then I have so many bleeding issues. Im due for surgery Aug 8th to remove a cyst and my ovaries, now the polyp. Could there be any connection? Just wondering.

As far as coumadin causing these problems? I really don't think so. It seems to be a time in life where the body is changing around. Some good, some bad. Unfortunately, you've had an unusually high level of the bad. Your break has to be very soon!

Warfarin has been on the market since the 1950s and nobody has even shown a relationship between it an polyps.

Alicia,
I'm sorry to hear about your many problems, but as Ross
suggested, heart surgery allows people to live longer- to
have more problems that occur with age. Some more then others as is your case.
My experience is only ancedotal, but I have been on coumadin
for more or less for 40+ years and I just had a complete polyp free examine, so like Al said I don't think it is the coumadin.
Good luck and good health to you.

Hi Alicia

Hi Alicia

I had a total hysterectomy many years ago (?11) due to a formation of ovarian cysts that would form each month and cause so much pain that I would be bent over in two for up to two days! Let's face it-I wasn't going to have any more children so the next step naturally would be the hysterectomy. I don't think the Coumadin was responsible for my formation of cysts but I believe what would happen when I formed these cysts was related. When the cysts form I believe there is a small amount of blood that can leak which will cause the average non coumadin patient some discomfort. In my case the bleeding was more severe causing a lot of pain. I also had one ruptured cyst which they thought was appendicitis (they removed both while they were in there).

Good luck (PS-had a colonoscopy-no polyps for me). Don't think it is related, and I have had a lot of bleeding issues. Keep me posted on how you make out.

Gisele, I will keep ypu guys updated on my surgery and hopefuly that will be the LAST surgery this year LOL. Thanks for other responses. I really dont think the Coumadin is causing the problems, its just funny they all started right after I started the Coumadin. Ross, hows the bronchitis? Hope you are back to par.
