I am currently on Coumadin and am wondering if it would be possible for me to take Accutane (used to treat severe acne). The information that I have about Accutane is that it is a powerful medication with the possibility of many serious side effects, including mental (depression), causes birth defects, brain problems, stomach problems, bone and muscle problems, hearing problems, vision problems, lipid problems, and the list continues on and on, along with precautionary steps you must take in order to be on this drug....Doesn't sound promising. I was not able to find any information on contradictions with Coumadin though and was wondering if anyone here has ever been on this medication or knows of contraditions with this medication.

Was on it about 3 years ago. No real bad side effects. Have experienced worse side effects on meds that werent even supposed to be known for real bad side effects. I was on it for 5 months, it worked pretty well. My Derm at the time and I worked back and forth on juggling the dose. Had lab work once a month to check levels I think it was. I didnt have severe acne but it was moderate and would go away with anything else. Acne is back somewhat but only mildyl and usually I think comes when I am under a lot of stress which I am right now.

Anything else I can help with? PS: Not on Coumadin can't help there. Have you tried other RX products??

I don't know of any reason to avoid Accutane with warfarin.

I find it rather interesting that there is so much play in the news media about Vioxx and Celebrex when their serious complication rate is so much lower than that of Accutane.
