Hi......Iv been taking 5mg warfarin daily for past few months. Had INR tested today and it is 1.9 ...my range should be 2.5 / 3.5.

Iv been taking quite a bit of SOLPADINE lately due to pain in upper ab / lower chest area. *Solpadine contains paracetamol, codeine, caffeine.

*Would this cause my INR to drop?

Iv been advised to take 6mg and retest next week.

Nope. If it's the same as our Soltamax, it would rise, not fall.

Check with you doctor of pharmacist to be sure.

Paracetamol is the same as acetaminophen. This has been reported to increase the INR if you start taking more than about 1500 mg per day. It is still the safest anaglesic to use with warfarin.
