Hey troops do any of you guys take q10 and warfrin, ive been taking q10 for 4-5 years plus multi vit, omega 3 as well as (irbesartan prescribed) but have read a few articles that q10 may effect warfrin.....as im due for surgery early december and prob mech valve would be great for any feedback from people who do or views on it ....LLAP People..

I took coq10 a couple years ago and it did interfere with my INR, but I can't remember if it increased or decreased my INR. I discontinued q10 after a short while. Check your multivitamin for vit K content. I used to take one with vit K but found one without vit K and began using it. That change too the no vit K vitamin helped my INRs become very stable.

Your Pharmacist may be able to answer your questions about CoQ10 and Warfarin.

As long as the interaction is minimal, you can simply adjust your Warfarin Dose to accomodate your CoQ10, just be consistent in taking your CoQ10.

Just to add to Al, I am new to Warfarin, but what I latched onto to make it easier is that if you are going to consum things that effect your INR, the important thing is to be consistent. This allows for a consistent warfarin dosage.

You're right about the consistency. Try googling "CoQ10 and warfarin". Also - if you're planning on more surgery, make sure to find out how much before the surgery you should quit the CoQ10.

I take both, and it the q10 does not seem to have a dramatic affect; I take 500mg a day fo q10. Q10 is similar in structure to vit K, but even with the amount I take, I still only take 20mg a week of coumadin. If I don't get enough greens my INR will creek up to a high level.
