It does look as though Rhena won the Great Race to the Red, White, and Blue, pending any demand for a recount from Kentucky Wildcat land. Congratulations Rhena. I am sure The Chimp will have an appropriate prize, along the lines of a case of All-American Moon Pies to you soon.

The Chimp is busy (and I know we all shudder to think what that entails) :eek2: right now, so Superbob is starting the new thread in absentia. I guess for now we will just do individual postings til we decide if we're going to organize a new team competition. I ain't giving the girlies any points ahead of time but if the girlies catch the Chimpster in a mellow mood (after consuming a vat of spiked banana pudding for instance) they might get a generous concession again. :D

I doubt Superbob will do a weigh-in this week. Took a jaunt to the gracious city of Charleston, SC, sampled their seafood wares in quantity, and now have a granddaughter as a guest in my weigh-in room. She's here on her Summer Beach visit and to show her a good time there will have to be plenty of food after the swimming, so I don't know that the swim exercise will help all that much.

Maybe SB will sneak a peek at the scales once in a while. One way or another, he ought to be in good shape to do a race against the girlies -- what will it be? -- a Race to Thanksgiving?.... to 11-11-11, a very special day on Superbob's calendar?...a race to New Year's Day 2012? Momentous decision to be made. Good luck to the TD crew.

Hey Bob,
Your visit to Charleston sounds lovely. A Summer Beach visit from a granddaughter sounds more lovely!:smile2:

My weight loss quest is going well, all things considered, but I think I will wait on being the first one to post a win/lose/or draw.:wink2:

Superman, sounds like you're having a good time.
Rhena, Congratulations. You are doing GREAT !
Lady Gaga, Keep up the good work !

Yes, I believe that a Texas wildflower claimed first place in the RW&B. Good job! I may report this week, but may wait until next week. Cindy is in Georgia playing with grandkids and probably not losing weight..hehe.

Thanks for the RW&B concession to the Texas Wildflower, Wise. Maybe a good strategy is to celebrate her win this week, and start a new race next week (deciding in the meantime what type of race). Of course, anyone who wants to weigh this week, can do so. Duffey, for one, sounds like she has a good report to make. :D

I'm at 135.3, today, pretty much the same place I was when we started, but I've finally gotten the sodium/water retention issue under control. Therefore my "taking a mulligan" last week doesn't affect the throwdown results. Congrats to Rhena!

I'm still trying to shed 3-5 lbs of "real" weight to get back where I'd like to be, so I'll be sure to join the next throwdown. I hope losing the water will make it easier to exercise. Now, if we could just do something about the HEAT!

Hi Everyone!

Thanks to all participating and congratulations to the losers. My weight last week was 209, this week 209. My goal weight is 205. The nutritionist at cardio rehab suggests get to the goal weight - and she says it won't be easy, this will be the toughest part. Looking at myself last week I could easily say "I look flabby" and re-think the goal 190 to 195 but she said don't do that. I've started to work on the resistance training, weights and stuff, now that my body says I can do such silly things. Although my weight is the same this week, the love handles seem smaller...i think. My body is remodeling too, the nutritionist is right, stick to the 205, muscle weighs more than fat.

Bob

Your cardiac rehab nutritionist sounds very savvy, CanoeBob. I think setting doable goals, and reaching them, and then setting new goals is sensible strategy, as opposed to setting a big number and getting frustrated at the slow pace toward reaching it. Not that I have met many goals, but that sounds like a good plan to me. :D

Thank you all for the Kudos!! The Wise man came so close - I might consider him co-winner. As my prize - I am not going to weigh this week... :biggrin2: (I actually did, but it wasn't pretty..)

You know when you get a tooth pulled as I did yesterday., all that you can eat is soft food (cookies, ice cream, mashed potatoes and gravy) all of which I consumed yesterday. Now trying to stop the madness once again!

CanoeBob, I agree with SB and your cardio rehab person - don't bite off more than you can chew. You are doing so great! I think Laurie can tell you how hard it is to get those last few pounds off. So set your goal at something you can achieve and then re-set it if you want. A lot of little Baby steps add up.

Laurie - glad to see you have your fluid retention under control. I really think that is my problem mostly this week. Anytime I over indulge in carbs, I retain fluid.

OK -I'll be checking back another day and time. SB, I kind of like the idea of a team race to 11/11/11 - it's a change anyway! Plus it is one week before I leave for Barbados to catch a sailing ship through the Grenadines... Perfect timing!
