Well, ho, ho, ho, Throwdowners -- Christmas Eve draws nigh, families gather, feasts are prepared, cookies and candies are everywhere -- who can think much about weigh-ins at such a time? Right now, I am looking at the biggest, fattest robins I have ever seen hopping around in my yard, gobbling the extra rations of sunflower seeds I have thrown out in the holiday spirit. Are those red-breasted guys fattening themselves up to make it through a hard winter, or what? (We actually have snow in the forecast for the day after Christmas -- yes, this is a beach in the South). :eek2: Well, we Throwdowners might have a bit of the same mentality but we know the wisdom of moderation and renewal that comes with the New Year. We will celebrate and enjoy but we will be mindful of getting back on track afterwards with sensible nutrition and exercise.

So be of good cheer, Throwdowners! :smile2:

As for Superbob, he appears to have found those two pounds he mysteriously lost last week. No surprise there. All his family will be gathering here today, and there will be an extra dawg to be walked, so that may help burn some extra calories. And 2011 will bring a new yellow lab into the family here (of course, Superdawg will continue to be the No. 1 dawg). So there will be an extra trainer of the canine ilk available. More exciting news about that later. :D

Okay to one and all, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hoping The Chimp gets his communication device back in good order and swings by to see us soon.

Extra bonus, Throwdowners: Here's how to make your "Superman shot" of holiday cheer. Enjoy! http://www.ehow.com/how_4996493_a-superman-shot.html

I'm glad to see that the Man of Steel is of good cheer!:smile2: I weighed this morning, figuring today would be better than tomorrow or the next day, :wink2: and I've stayed the same this week. It's still too much weight, but at least it's not additional weight.
I hope Santa has a new computer in his sack for The Chimp, you know . . . a Christmas miracle . . . . but it's more likely to be switches!:biggrin2:
Merry Christmas!:smile2:

I keep managing to fight off a pound and a half by Monday WW weigh in day, but by Thursday I've found it again, thanks to Xmas party dinners out, with their inevitable salt, fat, etc. loads. But I'm pretty much holding steady with last week (a .1 drop does NOT count).

I've managed to resist MOST of the office goodies: cake, cheesecake, pecan pie, chocolates, fruitcakes, etc. etc. But boy, is it hard to do!

Bob, I'm so happy you're getting another dog! Lucky you! 2 consecutive walks is so Good for you! I've found it is rather difficult to walk two dogs simultaneously, because you can't correct just one, and they compete to see who gets to walk in front. No, sillies, I'M the leader!!!!

Mark and I have decided to wait at least 6 months before getting another Lab. Jet is a handful all by herself. But it seems she's a little lonely, especially this week when we're having a holiday break from training classes.

We're thinking about maybe trying some fostering for the local Lab rescue, but a rescue dog would require much training time, which I just don't have with Jet needing worked constantly. Maybe we'll foster some of the older dudes, though we'd likely have them longer than average.

Superbob, is your new superpup going to be a Bob to the Jillian you already have or will it be an Allison coming to moderate the workouts and weigh ins?

I'm going to say that I've lost 1.5 lbs. this week (as of this morning). I doubt I will weigh on Saturday. I'm still really hovering around the same pound range hoping that the luck of the Irish will bring a new svelte me. ; )

Hey! Anyone here on the new WW program? How is it? Thoughts?

Well, Superbob is a very old weight watcher (lower case). Does that count? :tongue2::tongue2: Seriously, Cindy and Wise have been WW regulars, and others I think, including The Chimp himself. Bet they'll be along to answer your question. SB doesn't count food points, but he does count dawg-walking miles. Merry Christmas!

I'm on the new WW program. I was off (to save $$) for about 6 months, and re-upped with the new program. I like it. You have to forget the points you memorized before, and memorize some new ones. But with free fruits (to satisfaction) I find most of the time there's room in my budget for a glass of wine with dinner, and I can remember to get my oils in. I've lost a couple pounds, but of course with holiday parties and extra salt, I'm bouncing up and down mid week. Over all, I like the new WW program.

Congrats to all of you losers and of course those who were able to maintain as well. I haven't weighted and I'm not going to because I'm really concerned that like Superbob I'll find those lbs I lost last week. I promise to weigh in next week.
Merry Christmas

"Oh, where have all the Throwdowners gone...

gone to Christmas leftovers, every one.....

Christmas puddings and pies on tables not long,

When will they ever return....oh....

fa la la la la la la LA."

Superbob, Cindy says to tell you, while she is eating fruitcake for breakfast, that she will return on January 1st.

We had a good Christmas day. All of my sisters were at my mother's house and mom loved it. She ate a lot, surprising. Cindy's mom sent her some of her famous carrot cake and she even ate that and some blackberry pie. That was my Christmas present.

So, no snow on the beach Superbob? We got no more than an inch here, if that much. That was a blessing because we have to cross a bridge over a creek to my mother's driveway. You have to approach it downhill and it doesn't have sides; the fall of the bridge is about 15 feet or so (admittedly I not good with measurements). So, I was relieved.

Merry Christmas, belatedly, to all fellow throwdowners.

Oh come on, Throwdowners -- tell Superbob you aren't all joining the Duffster in the mad rush for more helpings of Christmas pie! :redface2: Cindy, put down that breakfast fruitcake --- baaaaad!

Please tell Superbob you are making diligent preparations for the Great Saint Paddy's Day race -- that you are preparing your diet and exercise journals for 2011, getting your mittens and earmuffs ready for outdoor exercise in the winter, renewing a gym membership perhaps, figuring out the new WW points system, whatever ....Superbob trusts you all are being good.

Superbob OF COURSE is being supergood. He has two dawgs to walk in winter storms or fair weather, whatever -- Superdawg plus his daughter's feisty shepherd dog visiting from Virginia. So Superbob is burning his calories -- -- how about YOU? :wink2:

I'm back and ready to get on track:smile2: ... I weighed in although I could not report do to system problems ... anyway I'm sure I gained my three pound loss back ... we ate and ate and ate but I started back today (12-27-10) on the low carb routine but I did not have the guts to get on the scale:redface2: ... good luck to everyone in getting those holiday pounds off!!!

Throwdown Starting Weight: 233

I'm with the chimp. Thank God the last of the nog is gone today and leftover pies and cake are going to the office tomorrow. OMG I have been terrible. But it was indeed a very very Merry Christmas. Just right! My admiration to those of you who have been able to resist in the face of such and onslaught! I'm ready for the race though We need to get a head count of everyone who is in - so we can make up teams somehow. We of course will take comers at anytime, but those who are ready to commit. I need some accountability and the Chimp is clearly NOT setting a good example!:biggrin2::biggrin2:

Cooker, glad you're past your technical difficulties. Welcome back to the zoo.

Superbob, Cindy said the breakfast fruitcake went down alright! I think she only had it once though. Her mother offered to make her some more and she declined due to the inflation it would cause. ; )

Hold on there! ... TheChimp is an excellent example ... I can gain, lose or stay the same ... what else is there? :tongue2: ... count me in ... teams? ... guys verses gals or are we mixing it up? ... I think we should stick with the gals vs guys but I can see where some of you gals would like a chance to win :biggrin2:

Ohhhh so trying to egg us on are you. BTW I can do all of those things you do too! I am so versatile. If we don't mix it up (which is ok by me too) , then you gotta spot the girls some pounds or else we do it based on percentage lost or something. Come on now give us a little break!

Superbob will gladly take all the gals on his team and whip any team of guys The Chimp puts up in opposition. :D:D;)
