Okay, guys, opening a new thread for a new week.

Can't tarry here this morning -- have to take DW to medical appointments. Also, rather disconcerting, had an armed robbery and then a shooting in the community last night. Police nabbed two of the four suspects, but two are still loose. Dark clothes, baggy pants. Draw your own picture. Police dogs sniffing around. Not used to this stuff happening in my neighborhood but I guess it happens everywhere these days. If it comes to my household, I will defend our lives and property -- that's all I'm saying about that.

So weighing is not on my radar scope at the moment. Will shoot for tomorrow morning. Hope your corner of the world is less stressful and you all are having a good week.

Would love to hear from all Throwdowners.

SB, it's a good thing you live in a small town. The news headline this morning in DFW was a quad murder at 2 locations, 1 perp (caught). Probably family related, but early reports were sketchy.

I've been a good girl this week. Down to 149.5 this morning.
Yoga class last night fixed my achy left shoulder, but strained a back muscle on my right side, under my shoulder blade. Between that and the carpal tunnel, I can't win.
Let's see if I can get to 145 by Labor Day??? I know that's asking a lot, but it would be nice to fit into some more of my clothing!

Bob, sorry to read that your community experienced the robbery/shooting. It always makes us feel more vulnerable when it strikes close to home.
Laurie, I bet you can do it!
I think I will weigh "officially" tomorrow. I'm up a pound this morning from yesterday morning, so I'm hopeful that the pound will find its way off as easily as it found its way on.
I've got a doctor's appointment this afternoon to have several skin lesions scraped and sent off to the lab. I'm not looking forward to it.

Good report from Laurie -- and first one to report numbers this week.

Meanwhile, we've left Duffey out here by her lonesome again. So being the good guy that I am, I am putting myself on the line instead.

I worry about weighing in, though. After our visit to her old home place in NC last weekend, DW has been hankering for rich down-home food. Of course I eat it -- so I am responsible. (Not trying to blame her -- well, not exactly. I could have gone to Subway every night - but I didn't.)

Anyway, I don't expect the scale to be kind. Might even wait til Saturday.....

I'll check in, but I seem to be continuing my backward slide. I'm sure it is fluid, but it isn't any one item - probably a combination of things I've eaten that are higher in sodium than my norm.

Start of year: 164.6
Last week: 157.2
This week: 158.0

YTD: -6.6

I'm still within sight of my goal, which is to remain in the 150's through the winter into next year. To do this, I really want to be around 155 by the end of warm weather, so I can "see" it from here.

At this time of year, I'm prone to stress eating. The summer is my favorite season outdoors, but unfortunately it is also my busiest season at work. I'm really overloaded during July and August, which often makes me snack-prone. I'm sort of on a light diet -- when it gets light out, I begin to eat. . .

This has been a stressful week, with a long drive to rural North Carolina for funeral of DW'S beloved first cousin, much irregular eating on the journey, all sorts of food before and after the funeral from country kitchens, then the aftermath when DW has been seeking out facsimiles of Tar Heel eateries -- gobs of goodies cooked in bacon grease or laden with sugar.

Bottom line: I am now giving myself a week to try to repair some of the damage. Yes, I am taking a mulligan. Yes I am not accepting accountability.

Go ahead: Sock it to me! :redface2:

No sock 'em from me Bob. You put yourself on the line with your earlier post, so for the time being, you can do no wrong.:wink2:

Laurie, good going! Steve, I bet it is a fluid issue. I struggle with it during the summer.

I've worked at trying to lose this week, and happily, it paid off.

Start of year: 151.5
Last week: 148.5
This week: 147.0

Thank you, Duffey -- and congrats on your good progress!

This morning, Superbob is back within his big goal for '13 of "seeing the 250s" on his scales. Still have damage to repair, however, from a run of Tar Heel cuisine. (SC food is much better: broiled seafood and salad) :biggrin2:

Hope to have a decent report by the mid-August Throwdown weigh-in. Want to be in a position by year's end of having a "seeing the 240s" as a goal for 2014.

And BTW, it is just Too Darn HOT (and humid) right now. Not even trying to walk Superdawg in morning now when temp is fast rising. Yesterday we took our walk at dusk but she was still panting heavily. Hard to get much real outdoor exercise when it's like this --even dangerous for old dawgs (me included)...

WOW, Superbob standing in for Duffey in being all by his lonesome for 3 days on the Throwdown. I guess SB is being a gentleman protecting a lady, huh? :p

Ah, but where is the banter we usually have in this fine venue? What's everyone up to -- just trying to survive August?

Superbob has found it too dang hot to walk Superdawg in the morning, so we've tried dusk when temps are at least dropping a little. That's okay so long as SD hears no fireworks anywhere within 15 miles.:eek2:

I understand lots of rain and much cooler weather is heading this way -- understand some of you westward may have already experienced some of it -- not to extent of flooding, I hope.

SB is trying to be more sensible with his eating -- it's a never-ending struggle. :smile2:

Yeah - diet control is a struggle for lots of reasons. For me, the summer is the busiest, highest-stress part of the business year. The company's fiscal year ends June 30, and from then until early to mid-September I have a much higher than normal work and stress load. That often leads to stress-snacking and less-than-optimal lunch choices. I do try to get out of the office at lunch time, though. I grab a quick lunch, then try to take a walk. That helps me to relax and de-stress in order to deal with the afternoon. I'm rarely fully successful in managing my intake, though, and often end up fighting a couple of extra unwanted pounds until fall.

Many people become "scarce" during the summer because they are out playing. For me, it is often because of work. Stinks, too, because summer is my favorite season. I've been in this job for 14 years, and the schedule isn't going to change, so I've just got to somehow accept it and move on. Hope we have a nice fall. . .

Knowing you had my back, Superbob, allowed me to spend a little time away from VR and the Throwdown.:smile2:

I had the skin biopsies performed, and the residual healing has been a little more than expected. No word yet, but I'm optimistic that all is well. I also lost a cousin this week. He had been ill for some time, but his death was unexpected. In addition one of our boys has moved to St. Louis, so we have Superdawg Yoshi staying with us until "his daddy" finds a place that accepts pets. School starts next week for the grandkids and I have committed to taking and picking them both up five days a week. Things are about to get hectic!

In the meantime, today's weather is gorgeous! 58 degrees when we got up, and the high is suppose to hit 78. The forecast for next week is highs in the 90's so I'm determined to enjoy the fine weather while I can.:wink2:

Duffey... wishing you a good report .... I am back but not very active on the TD this week... I will start it off this week and try to stay more in touch ... I expect my weight to be UP ... mountains mean fudge, pan-cakes and other wonderful waist expanding treats :)

Very sorry about the loss of you beloved cousin, Mary. Our recent drive to NC was to the funeral of a first cousin who was like a brother to my DW.

Sure hope and pray those skin biopsies come out fine -- seems in my household we're forever sweating one medical test or the other.

School starts here next week too -- it indeed will be hectic, with all the soccer games grandparents are expected to attend (even though I am expected to do no yelling.) That's in addition to the Heart and Alzheimer's walk teams I agree to captain in a moment of weakness. :eek2:

Wow! You folks are busy. I must be in the magic zone. Our daughter (only child) got married and moved out of state only recently. No grandkids to fawn over yet. No school issues. Only work (50-60 hours a week, and summer is the busy season for me). We try to enjoy the summer but this year has been weird. The early part of summer was super-rainy. Then came the heat. Now, for the last couple of weeks it has been nice. I hope the rest of summer and fall remain decent so we can get out a bit. By then my wife should be sufficiently recovered from her foot surgery that we can get out and do some serious walks. I've been walking alone a lot, but I miss the time to visit while we walk.
