Greetings Throwdowners:thumbup: ... I have had a good week and dropped a few pound. Watching the carb intake, limited snacking and walking (when it's not raining) has greatly improved the way I feel and my energy level. I hope that this will be a trend and eventually a lifestyle change.

As I age it is becoming increasingly clear how important weight management is. Mobility and stamina improve as I walk and eat right. Why in the world I slide back into bad habits I don't know. I have started each new day for the past week or so renewing my resolve to push toward my goal one day at a time. I can't look back on the past failures; the only thing I can control is today.

How has your week gone? I appreciate everyone's input and dedication.

Peace out .....:cool2:

OOps, forgot to weigh this morning -- was so excited to get in Superdawg's walk, THEN do aqua therapy in community pool left deserted by kiddies going back to school. While a few old geezers sunned, I was the only person exercising in the pool. A huge beautiful pool ringed by palm trees -- all to myself! Bliss.

I will weigh tomorrow. Think there's no gain -- who knows, maybe a slight loss. We'll see.

I am SO Jealous! All the outdoor pools in town have closed for the summer!:eek2: It's crazy! :mad2:Daytime temps are averaging 90-95 degrees, but once public schools are back in session, they close the pools.:frown2: I've got a great indoor pool at our fitness center that I can swim in, but who wants to when it's still summer?:confused2: I have ranted and raved about this all week to those unfortunate enough to be in my voice range, and now I'm off on another jag!:mad2:

While I try to compose myself, let me say Good Job! to the Chimp.:wink2:

Oh shoot, hectic times -- didn't weigh in this morning either -- but I had taken a peek Wednesday and it seemed about the same as previous week so I'm going with no change. Been pretty active, on land and in the water, so maybe will have progress to show next week.

Nice job, Mr. Chimp! You must have some magic, to say the least. Great week!

For me, kind of a holding pattern.

Start of year: 164.6

Last week: 157.0
This week: 157.2

Week change: + 0.2
YTD: -7.4

I chalk the slight gain this week up to fluid retention, caused by sodium. I've been keeping up with my exercise, so the change must be intake-related. I'll have to watch it moving forward.

I'm up a pound. It's discouraging, but it is what it is (to borrow a Chimp expression).:wink2::wink2: Now if I could borrow a few of those pounds Chimp lost . . . :biggrin2:

2013 Starting weight: 151.5
Last week's weight: 147.0
This week's weight: 148

I feel somewhat reluctant to post this. Sorry for my absence. Just haven't been ready to deal with weight issues for a while. Life for me is good overall. Nothing should have caused me to backslide, but let's just say I did. I haven't weighed and don't when I will, but I am ready to stick my little toe back into the water of accountability. Cindy and I moved to a house, after a while of condo living. That has been a very positive thing for us. Also, I just started a new part-time job, while keeping my other very part-time job. I have been extremely busy with training and learning new things, but I'm very happy with this new job. Also, while still maintaing my friendship with my Colombian friend, Edwin, and I am studying with a new partner, Carlos, from northern Spain. No other goal pursuit has been more rewarding than acquiring a second language. Hey, I don't know if it will ever be used otherwise, but it's a personal victory for me that I have progressed to where I can communicate in Spanish with a native speaker. I have a long way to go, but I have a long way to go in other ways too. Cindy is doing fine as is Perry. They both live next door to their best buddies now. Tonia, Cindy's best friend, has a black lab guide dog named Wes. Perry adores him.

So, forgive me for dropping out of the scene. I'm glad to see you are all doing well. I will continue to participate, but no promises about when I will weigh. Cindy is mum about her weight.

The Wise one is Back!! Glad you and Cindy are well!! As said don't worry about weighing in, everything in it's time.

I have taken today off from low carb and it was heavenly!! Fudge, ice cream, and blueberry cobbler. Back to towing the line tomorrow:thumbup:

Well, Mr. Wise, I'm glad to hear that things are going along so well. Congratulations on the new (to you) house, and it will sure be nice for Cindy and Perry to have friends so nearby. As the others have said - don't worry about weighing. We're just happy to have you back aboard.

I've been "bad" this past weekend, and next week doesn't look any better. Saturday we went out to dinner with a friend and his wife. He is from India, and they took us to their favorite Indian restaurant. It isn't a fancy place. It is in an Indian neighborhood and is just a regular everyday place. I'll just say that it was "interesting." Yesterday we took my 86 year-old mother-in-law out for her favorite dinner - pizza! I guess we never truly get old when it comes to favorite foods.

At the end of this week, we will be going out East to visit our daughter, near Amherst, MA. This is our first visit out there, as they (daughter and son-in-law) just moved there in June. I don't see "good" things happening to my diet or exercise routines while we're away. I'll get back into things when we return.

I'll try to stay in touch, if I can remember to pack a computer. I hate trying to read these forums on a cell phone.
