Greetings ... I have started to get back with a bit of walking and watching what I eat. Feeling better is what I'm looking for and that is already happening. Psychological or physical it does not matter, what matters is that I'm feeling better. I have been eating a light breakfast, low fat lunch and whatever my DW fixes for dinner (cobbler included):biggrin2:. I have picked out a walking route that suits my time restrains, walking it daily and just hoping that I will not get into the excuse mode (too hot, too cold too wet).

I hope all of you have had a great week and are well. Anything new and exciting going on? Any request for advice? If so I know someone who will be more than happy to help out:wink2: ..... Chow

Well done, Sir Chimpster!

Superbob thinks he will give himself one more day before stepping on the scales.

Due to health reasons, my DW doesn't cook as regularly as she once did. So we have to do go-out or take-out a good bit, and we surely have the past few days. Today, I am going to seek a nice salad bar and maybe we will go to the farmers' market for some fresh fruit and veggies. (Sometimes that does lead to -- shudder! -- Cobblers this time of year, however. :eek2::smile2:

Hope all are doing well.

Bob ... good luck at the market. We went last week and about all that looked good was the peaches. Not a zucchini to be found. The folks at the market here said all the rain has done a number on many summer favorites.

Yep, too little rain one year, too much the next - another reason farming is a rugged line of work. God bless the farmers! I'll buy whatever fresh and edible produce they have.

I didn't weight this morning, but I will in the morning.
As far as exciting news goes . . . we thought we'd take a cue from Mr. and Mrs. Superbob and announce we're expecting a new grandbaby's arrival this spring. :thumbup:In the meantime, our other grandchildren are keeping us b-u-s-y! Now if it would only translate into weight loss!:wink2:

That's great news, Mary! Maybe our newest grandchildren will arrive about the same time ... all the more blessings for us -- and occasions for "Exercisin' With the Grands" (didn't sweet Bonnie call grandbabysitting something along that line?) :smile2:

Congratulations, Mary! Another new one on the way. Be prepared to spoil all of them all over again. My mother used to say "The great thing about grandchildren is that they are wonderful to be with. . . then they go home." I know that she meant that she loved every minute with my daughter, but by the end of the day she was tired and glad we were there to take over.

I did weigh in this morning, and almost shouldn't have bothered. My activity level took a hit this past week - too much rain and too many other things demanding time. Not bad, but a slight backward slip.

Start of the year: 164.6
Last week: 157.0
This week: 157.2

So, I gained 0.2 lbs this week (probably fluid), but
YTD: -7.4

I'll be trying to increase my activity level some, but I definitely need to watch the stress-eating. This is my super-busy time of year at work, and there are too many snack items at hand. Grrr. . .

I appear to be up about 1 pound from last week, but still within my target range for 2013. I will work a little harder this week. More cross-training -- walk, bike, swim.

I am not into starvation diets to make the pounds just fall off. I actually am down 25 pounds from my one-time perilous high. And down 10 since last fall.

Could I do better? Sure. Working on it.

Thanks Bob, thanks Steve!

I stayed the same as last week. Not good since I had a pound weight gain and hoped to have it off plus more.

Are Throwdowners on strike? I ask, because no one has posted since my reply of four days ago. Was it something I said? Do I have bad breath? Bad smelling armpits? :eek2:Whatever it is, I'll promise to brush, floss and use more deodorant if that's what it takes.:wink2:
In the meantime, I've had to really watch the calories this week in order to see even the slightest downward trend with the scales. I went for my annual fitness evaluation (to maintain the employee discount on DH's health insurance) yesterday, and I need to lose 10 pounds over the next year. Nothing substantial will happen if I don't, but from a fitness point of view, that's what it will take to bring me in line with the BMI recommendation. I'm optimistic that I can do it, but I hope I don't have to cheerlead my efforts all by myself.

Sorry you got stuck out all by your lonesome in the TD thread, Duffey. I've had that happen to me a time or two. I don't think it's anything personal. :biggrin2:

I will be cheerleading for you (and for the Redbirds as well of course)....

My gosh, I shudder to think how much a doc would say I needed to lose if BMI were factored into the equation. :eek2: I am not a fan of the BMI -- I know I am heavier than I should be (though less heavy than I used to be) but I still think there is such a thing as a heavy-framed person who may not fit exactly on the charts. Oh well. :rolleyes2:

Do we need to think about releasing the hounds to find some of our former regulars on the TD? :confused2:

Release the hounds ... good thing they can't climb trees ... TheChimp will sit perched atop a tree and hurl bananas at those yapping yappers:biggrin2:

Sorry gang, I spent most of last week at CLE. A bunch of lawyers talking about how the ATRA2012, DOMA, Portability, and the new Texas Estates Code (which has just been amended even before it goes into effect 1/1/14) all impact estate planning and probate. Long periods of boredom interspersed with moments of panic, as usual.

I'm holding steady at (gulp) 151. Gee whiz, back when I had my AVR 8/2010 I weighed 134. Then in January 2012 I was up to 139. HELP!! 18 months later I'm up almost 20 lbs. The more I diet and exercise, the more I weigh!!!!

Hi, folks! Don't forget to remind the BMI nazi's that the calculation was originally designed for measurement and comparison of population groups - not for measuring individual members of that population. It also does not take into consideration the relative muscularity of the individual. Accoring to the BMI charts, I am borderline overweight. Trust me - I am not. I just have more muscle and lean body mass than the chart thinks I do (or should). Probably the best measures are the physical measures of body fat and fat percentage, but very few centers are equipped to perform these tests.

For myself, I use BMI as a general guide, but I set my own target weight based upon what feels right for me. Currently my target weight is about 155, and I'm within a couple of pounds of being there.
