No way around it, this is the middle of July. Throwdowners melt away for a while, then they come back. Who will come back this week? Duffey has checked in -- we very much welcome her return. Others will follow, we hope.

So The Man of Steel is pinch-hitting for the Banana Man this week.

Superbob is at 257.7 -- exactly the same as last week. He will count that as a win. Down 7.3 for the year. Superbob is "seeing the 250s" regularly. Next goal "see the low 250s regularly." After that (maybe for 2014), "See the 240s."

From his centuries on this planet, the Man of Steel has learned these weight issues must be handled with patience. :biggrin2: Slow and steady wins the race.

Okay, this is the Thursday-as-Friday posting, in case we have any Aussie friends posting. I hope we will have a good turnout this week and lots of banter. Let us know what you are up to. Yesterday Superbob got in a Superdawg walk as well as an evening swim/aqua walk thanks to being whisked by the Grands down to the pool. It was good for the bionic knee #BionicBob ... :tongue2: Today maybe the PT exercises plus x-bike. Got some good cross-training going, and am being a good boy about not eating sweets and junk.

Good luck and best wishes to all....SB

Good going, Superbob!:smile2:

I haven't weighed this morning since I left the house early to take two grandchildren and one grandchild's friend to VBS, then make a trip to Lowe's, then wash the car.:eek2: However I did weigh yesterday morning, and unless I'm down drastically more by tomorrow am, I will go with yesterday's weight.:wink2:

After 17 days of vacation, more than half that involved PIE eating at some point during the day, I'm up one half pound. Yep, one half of a pound. Bob actually lost 6 pounds, so I've reached the logical conclusion that eating PIE is a great diet aid!:biggrin2:

Starting weight for the year: 151.5
Last weigh-in: 146.5
This week's weight: 147
Loss for the year: 4.5

Pass the PIE!

WOW! -- SB will go with the Pie Diet (except make his sugar-free or non-sugar-added or some such) :biggrin2:

That's a near-miracle, Duffey - only a half-pound gain on vacation -- All I can think is that in addition to the beneficial pie, you did a lot of exercise (whether it was called exercise or not)

Nice going, SuperBob and Duffey! The others don't know what they're missing, do they?

Last week I wasn't ready to "claim" my loss as official, but this morning's weigh-in not only confirms it but a bit more. I'm pleased that the summer weather has allowed me to be out and active a lot more - I try to walk a mile or two at lunchtime on work days, and I have been walking another mile or two after dinner. All this in addition to my regular gym routine. Some years the weather is nice enough to keep up the walks well into the early winter, some years not. I have my fingers crossed that this is a good year - I'd like to make a lot more progress in the nice weather so that if I backslide some in the deep winter I still won't be back where I started from. (Remember, at my weight peak I was just over 170 lbs.)

Here's the story:
Beginning of the year: 164.6
Last week: 157.8
This week: 157.2

YTD: -7.4

I would really like to lost another 5 pounds or so, and I think there is enough summer left to have a good shot at it. Stay tuned!

Sorry I'm MIA. I'm just busy.

Weight is hovering at 149 (ugh) up a pound, down a pound. It's too hot to exercise outdoors. Even indoors with A/C it's too hot to get a decent work out. I want to run off somewhere cool and do a lot of walking. Texas is just miserable in July and August. There's a free Saturday morning outdoor yoga class not too far away... that's HOT yoga without paying for it. But I wonder about the fireants.... That's an issue all by itself.

If we can just hang in there through the summer, that's a win in my book. Our summers here in coastal Carolina for subtropical -- and yes that can be wonderful if you are able to enjoy a cool beverage and watch the waves. But it is not prime for outdoor exercising. I'm finding myself doing a lot of x-biking indoors lately.

And I can't imagine a class that might expose you to sitting down on a fire ants hill. :eek2: They are a menace we have to guard against here, too.

We've had some good reports this week -- Steve, Duffey, Laurie.... I know we still are missing some of our stalwarts of the Throwdown. Not going to call anyone out by name, Superbob knows by his powers of perception that there are a lot of distractions and diversions in July :tongue2: -- but just want y'all to know we miss you. :wink2: Look forward to you joining us when you can. Also also, any new folks who might be reading this and might want a place to pursue their goals with weight loss and fitness, we would love to hear from you. We weigh in (don't have to use exact weights if not inclined to do so) at the end of each week, and we support and encourage each other and have some fun. We've been doing this weekly for about seven years now. The door is always open to new Throwdowners. :D

Superbob took a peek on his scales this morning and saw the lowest weight he has seen in 25 years! :smile2:

Not reporting it ' now cause SB knows he has to sustain it til the official TD weigh-in -- but got extra motivation now.

Hope all our merry throwdowners are having a good week.

Bob - I know that feeling well. We see a "nice" number on the scale but are afraid that we can't sustain it. Hang in there and we both will see how it stands at the end of the week. Good luck, my friend!

I'm still working on getting the last of the vacation/pie weight off, and it is being stubborn! Superbob, so glad to read that your weight is doing just what you intend for it to do . . . go down!
I heard that The Chimp has lost his computer and is having a new one built. I hope that it's up and running by the end of the week. Now if we could only locate Wise!

Sorry about Mr. Chimp's computer problems. Been missing the Kentucky Flash, too -- am assuming he will be back with us soon.

Duffey, I thought you said pie helps help weight OFF! :eek2: Oh well... good thing I've been eating salmon and veggies, not pie, this week. :biggrin2:

Well, I'll clost my TD week this morning, as I may not be on the boards for a couple of days.

Beginning of the year: 164.6
Last week: 157.8
This week: 157.4

YTD: -7.2

I actually gained 0.2 lbs this week, but I won't fret about that. Had a couple of extreme meals, so I don't feel bad. Next week could be a challenge for me, as we're out on the town for a few days this weekend and eating will be more for recreation than sustenance - always a dangerous situation.
