Greetings:thumbup: ... I have gone on the Cabbage Soup Diet ... My plan is to do the CSD for a week and then WW for a week ... I know many diet gurus will be critical but I have done this before (before VR.org) with great success ... I'm down 5.25 this week ... some of the loss I know is the diet but I believe last weeks weight may have been a false high but whatever it is I'm pleased ... Rotating these plans works for me ... I like the soup and one day is plenty of bananas so that's like a dessert day for TheChimp:biggrin2: ... The blackberry cobbler is made with Splenda and will have to wait for a WW weeK:smile2:

How did your week go? ... I am very pleased that we seem to have our banter back ... I think the summer puts us back in diet mode, no sweaters or over sized coats to hide our sins:biggrin2::tongue2:

I know we have a lot of lurkers out there that follow our little thread ... I hope we add a smile or two to your day or maybe even a bit of inspiration ... that being said, feel free to join us ... the only rule is kindness ... we would love to have you!!!

I've been thinking about it, and I think the blackberry cobbler promised Cooker by his DW after he helped pick the berries, should be mine. It was MY birthday five days ago, and I did not receive a present from you, Tom. But not to worry, I'm a good sport and I will accept the cobbler as a belated birthday present. Thank you in advance!:smile2::smile2::smile2:
I'm down a pound for the week but still up a pound from the first of the year. Vacation starts tomorrow and my willpower will be tested by the close proximity of the various locations of the Norske Nook. They are known for their pies and have won many national competitions over the years. Our place in Wisconsin is located within a 75 mile radius of three of them, and I am quite willing to drive to reach any or all of the pie eateries. Another plus: no scales where I'm headed!:tongue2::tongue2: Everyone have a great week!:smile2:

Cabbage Diet, huh? All Superbob will say to that, is: Real men eat scones. :tongue2:

Nevertheless, congrats to the Chimp and the Ref for their good reports.

Superbob is going to see his hematologist this afternoon for his 6-month blood checkup. It is always a little unsettling 'cause it is at the area Cancer Center. Concern was/is long-term decline of h&h. It bounced back 6 months ago, but now may find if that's been sustained -- or not. A few good thoughts for SB would be appreciated.

SuperBob,

I am wishing you a normal appt at the hematologist. I hope everything goes well.

I have been getting geared up for my first year recheck appt in Houston since my diagnosis last summer with BAV and aortic aneurysm. Then today my doctors nurse called and said he would be OOT next week and I would have to postphone my appt. I am so disappointed, but I am going on to Houston for the testing anyway. I hope that is the right decision. Hopefully they will just call me and tell me that nothing has changed and go on living life Large!

Throwdowners, and potential throwdowners, have a great weekend.

Sorry Duffey! I knew birthdays were being celebrated over your way, but failed to realize it was yours. Happy belated birthday friend! I think a slice of pie is in order!

CBD not a bad idea as a kick-start. I should probably do it, but I may to get as uncomfortable as Cindy. I should be now.

I wish we had an emoticon with blackberry cobbler on it's face:redface2:

Wise you are correct about a kick starter .. I never stayed on it more than a week and then watch what I ate and then back on it after a week or two off... My goal is 180 ... can't wait to get there!!!

The Chimp's going wild! :eek2::biggrin2:

mbeard, I know how hard it is being in the waiting room. Wishing you good news on your test.

My six-month's appointment with the hematologist was weird but wonderful. Background: I've been getting monitored by him for the past 2-plus years because of concern about my steadily dropping hemoglobin, which could presage leukemia or other bad stuff.

Well, after all the bloodwork yesterday, he came in flabbergasted -- my hemoglobin has climbed back to where it was pre-decline. He then asked a series of questions:

Are you taking extra iron? No, Doc, just a multivitamin that doesn't include extra iron.

Are you taking testosterone? No, Doc (snicker) -- never. (Maybe I should wear my Superman shirt to appointments)

I thought he might ask about HGH and that notorious lab certain baseball players visited, but the answer still would have been "No, Doc."

He said I could continue to be monitored by his facility or just have my GP do it, with stipulation that there be complete blood counts every six months. I decided to keep going to his facility -- they have a state-of-the-art lab, he is a good guy, and the nurses are hot. :biggrin2:

Evidently he doesn't put much credence in my theory that long-term use of Lisinopril (now discontinued) had put a hurting' on my h&h -- what does a dumb, internet-surfin' mere patient know anyway?

So I'll keep going there, and perhaps someday when my h&h is back at full Superman levels, I will be the subject of an article in a prestigious medical journal. :biggrin2::cool2:

Of course, it could head south again -- but I am glad they're watching.

Thanks for all the good words of concern.

-- Superbob

Either the Throwdowners are busy or they have found their way to a banana pudding buffet and excluded TheChimp:mad2: ... I hope lack of activity this week is due to excessive exercise of those who are keeping so quiet ... hard to type when pumping iron or running a 10K:tongue2:

10K, ugh, sure -- maybe some 20-mile training runs for a marathon, too….not :frown2:

Sadly, Superbob never got going on any exercise yesterday --- about to try a walk with ol' Superdawg now at 9 a.m. before it gets any hotter. This is early for me -- needs to be even earlier…..later I need to either get in pool or exercise bike in workout room overlooking the pool and just look at the summer scenery. :biggrin2:

Tomorrow comes a doc's appointment, dreaded scales to step on… no nekkid weighing allowed. I have gotten complacent about checking my blood sugar --- I expect (and need) a lecture and some new testing equipment and supplies. Should be checking daily.

No banana pudding, but DW as always buys things like little white powdered donuts from Krispy Kreme and puts them on the table in front of me. Maybe she is trying to do me in? :confused2:

okay hope others are doing better than SB….

Nothing has changed for me. I am still not behaving as well as I should, but I'm not going hog wild. I would try out the banana pudding buffet if it were to be found. We have a recipe that uses vanilla pudding, sweetened condensed milk and sour cream and fresh bananas of course.

Forgive this whine, without cheese, entry. My biggest problem mentally staying on track, I believe, or at least it's an excuse, is my ongoing thyroid issue. My wife is trying to get me back to a healthy place and has found some helpful things because the meds don't help me enough. I deal with a great deal of tiredness and exhaustion. I know that exercise is probably the best thing I could do to help myself. I need to make myself at least walk. Whine over.
