Greetings! I hope this weeks thread finds all well. I just took my next to the last Lovenox injection, one more tonight and then the cardiologist in the morning to check INR and incision site. Read to get back to normal and for the Chimp that's a state of confusion and tomfoolery at best:biggrin2::tongue2:

Through all this I continued to walk (shhhh) and eat properly resulting in a 3 pound loss for the week. I was really shocked with the results of the cath, I fully expected to be stented and told I had blockage and build up... I pray I take this gift and run with it.

How was your week? I know SuperBob is excited about the grand-kids baseball as he should be... kids playing ball is 1000 times better than any pro game... the joy they exude id contagious!!!

Have a great week and find at least one thing today to be grateful for.....

2014 Starting weight: 231
This week: 228

My eating habits are a mess. For example, we had takeout BBQ last night cause my wife was busy cooking goodies for a picnic today. Not blaming her -- I could have gotten me a low-cal sub from Subway or something.

Anyway look to be up about 2 for week, still clinging to slight loss for year.

My concern at moment is increasingly flabby lower abs. Almost put something on Facebook, but decided it was too embarrassing. The problem started when I hit my 60s, now getting worst in 70s. I have to do what I can to reverse as best I can. It' not easy for seniors. Surfing, I have found some abs strengthening exercises for seniors on YouTube. Maybe my doctor can suggest a class or something when I see her in a few weeks. It's gotten to point that lower tummy feels sore when get up in the morning, with soreness gradually going away as I move round; that can only get worse unless I do something about it.

I walk and I x-bike but those don't do much for my problem areas. Told DW this morning of my determination to do something about it, and she said, "Whatever." :rolleyes2: I guess she's heard it all before. But I do give myself some credit for even caring and trying not to fall apart. Need to lose weight AND firm up.

There, that's my rant and attempt at steely resolve this morning.

I could use some steely resolve, myself. I have been using some light weights in an attempt to firm up, but it's too early to see any results. My clothes are uncomfortably tight and that's one effect of weight gain that drives me crazy. I hope the craziness translates into self-discipline to eat less and exercise more.

Maybe it's time for a personal throw down challenge, folks. Something specific, for example:

Superbob, why wait a few weeks and ask your doc? Throw down that before 5-30, you will research the exercise clubs and senior centers near you for a senior strength class and try it - most have them and it'd be awesome for your health. They are typically extremely careful about working within abilities and medical conditions so I do think it'd be safe.

Duffey, maybe throwdown exactly what you're gonna try for weights for the next couple of weeks, or that you're going to find a class or buddy to keep committed.

My top priority is breaking the sugar and flour addiction that has its claws deep into me again. I throw down that I will decline to eat sugar and flour through 5-30. Any joiners? (days 3-4 are the worst but I KNOW I will feel so much better if I can just make it through!)

Other folks, I can't discern what you might want to throw down, but if anyone is moved to throw down something, that'd be awesome! Then I will feel like I can't let you down. :)

You guys have a wonderful friendship here and it's great if that can leverage motivation and encouragement for health.

Bob, Duffey and Wise ... you all have shown the ability to make right choices and reap the rewards ... we all go through lulls in our commitment to diet and weight loss.... hang in there .... I'm trying to shed the cooler my six pack abs are kept in and it's not an easy task but one I think is possible no matter what the little devil on my shoulder whispers in my ear.

thanks, too, for the advice but I don't have time to scout out a class. I have to pick up grandkids at school, take them to games just about every day, take my wife to appointments and shopping (because she can no longer drive), do work in semi-retirement, take care of household, do what I can to help with new grand baby -- not complaining about any of these; all are blessings. Just saying, committing to a class at a specific time is not simple; best I can do is find some specific exercises I can do at home. Have sought some on Internet, but will ask doctor's advice; I respect her opinion (and asking the doc first is something at my age I find a wise thing to do in any event)….

Hope you feel better, Duffey.

I walk as much as possible, work 9-12 hours a day, add everything else life throws my way leaves little time for classes or scheduled exercise activity ... Bob, very wise to consult your doc on anything new ... I use to brush of the standard warning "consult your doctor before starting an exercise program or diet" but as I age it makes so much more since ... This thowdown is dedicated to weight loss ... there have been other throwdowns started for other exercises ... to each his/her own ...
