I hope this week finds all doing well (our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Bob) ... I don’t feel like I have had much success this week but I can report a 0.75 pound loss and that’s better than a gain ...

It has been a tough week in the news, Boston, the Community of West Texas ... it’s a much different time than when I was a care free boy when all the violence and terrorist attacks seemed to be across the big ponds, out of sight, out of mind ... It brings to mind the old Anne Murray song, “I Sure Could Use A Little Good News Today” ....

Sorry to be so heavyhearted but when you turn on the news, well .........

So how have you done this week ... I’m looking forward to great reports!!!

Well, I'm down 1.0 pounds for the year. It isn't due to exercise, as I"m still on "light duty" until I see the doc next week. Probably from not eating well. We're in one of the parts of Chicago that got pretty waterlogged, and we've been engaged in some un-planned spring cleaning. No real damage, just some moving of stored items and mopping up. We consider ourselves among the lucky ones, as neighbors up and down the block got up to a foot of water in their basements. I hate rain.

Good job, Steve. Good job, Cooker. Cold, cloudy day in SE Missouri, and it seems to match the events of the week.
I have been able to maintain the loss I had last week, so that's positive. I am going to try and walk this evening. If I don't get stronger, I won't be able to do a 5K event I'm registered for June 1. :frown2:

Good job Cooker, Steve and Duffey!

We had a good week overall. Cindy's up a little, but we've been eating altogether more healthily. Here's our report:

CINDY:

Last week: 156
This week: 157.8

She's still down close to five pounds for the year.

WISE:

Starting Weight: 194.5
Last Week: 184.1
This Week: 181.6
Loss this week: 2.5
Loss for the year: 14.9

We have, for the most part so far, cut out wheat from our diet. It's working we'll for me weight wise and how I feel.

Well, SB, I think that you knew it wouldn't be a speedy return to the tracks and trails. But do remember that there will be that return, and without the replacement you were only heading to a worse place to be. We're here for you, through the good and bad. We just want you back among us counting the miles when you're ready.

Thanks dear friends! I admit, I was on the verge of getting a little depressed with the complications, return to hospital, bleeding etc. But now I am starting to feel stronger every day -- drove this morning, home PT this afternoon, 26 staples come out Friday, then on to the tough PT with equipment. I'm up for it. Thank you so much for sticking by me. Even a superhero needs friends to lean on!

I sense an upswing in your post. :) Patience is key and don't beat yourself up for hitting any rough patches. Smoother roads lay ahead :)

In Bob we trust! Bob, it may not be easy, but you've come through things like this in the past. This is just another curve on the road of life - one that you must travel in order to get to the beautiful hills and valleys around the bend. We know you'll make a strong recovery and we await the progress reports.

Speaking of progress, I am to see my surgeon today to (hopefully) get the final release back to exercise after my hernia op in March. I don't expect to get an unconditional release, but I do hope to be allowed to go back to exercise in a gradual manner. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, I've been walking a couple of miles almost daily, so I haven't lost any cardio conditioning to speak of. I just need to get back to the more strenuous stuff and the weights. I'm glad that I feel up to it -- I just need the doc's agreement that I've healed enough to do it.

Hope your surgeon has cleared you for at least a gradual work-in to a full exercise schedule, Steve....

Yes, Bob, he did.

His basic instructions were "If it hurts, don't do it yet. Give it time." He also suggested that if I was formerly doing 50 push-ups at a set, to start with 25. This works for me, since I've done nothing intense for about 6 weeks. I'll have to get back to it gradually, but so far it feels much better now than before.
