Okay, my wife got out of hospital Monday after an ER visit and then three days in-patient, and yesterday at another area hospital, my grandson No. 2 was born (now have 2 grandsons & 2 granddaughters, a nice balance indeed.)

I have no earthly idea what my weight trend is. Have been eating on the run, or in hospital cafeterias, or leftovers from wife's tray, occasional Subway, one Big Mac. Probably not good in all. Anyway, wife is getting better, and baby boy and his mama are doing well.

Anyway, opening this thread as per request. Hope you all have good weight reports. Weight is not on my own radar scope right now.

Congrats on Supergrandbaby, Superbob!:smile2:

I'm not getting any weight pings back on my radar scope, either.:wink2:

We're headed out of town to see our new grandbaby, who unfortunately is still in intensive care. In addition, our oldest grandson is having major difficulties walking with his left leg and foot today after too much use yesterday. I dread his upcoming surgery, but watching him trying to walk proves to me that there really is no other choice in the matter.

In order for me to lose weight, I've learned that I have to put myself first, time-wise. I don't see that happening anytime soon! Good luck this week to the Throwdowners that are blessed with free time!:smile2:

Congrats SB, on both accounts! A new grand baby and medical issues with your wife make for double the stress, the good and the bad. That's enough for one radar, I'd say.

Duffey, the same goes for you, double the stress again here. Don't let the radar worry you. Hope for improvement for both grandsons soon!

Sometimes weight loss is not the most important thing in the world. Hope you both can find some time to rest a little also.

SuperBob,

I am so glad super wife is out of the hospital. That must mean she is doing better. I surely hope so. And I just found out in Houston 2 weeks ago that hospital cafeterias are not that healthy. Plus I was eating numbly and a lot of it. I didn't care.
( waffle fries in the hospital don't have calories, right.)

Duffey,

I am thinking about you. Hang in there for your son? And daughter in law. I am praying for both your babies. It hard to see your children suffer over their children.

Take care all.

Melissa

Baby Brooks comes home from the hospital today, just two days after his birth. Wow! Guess grand pop might be enlisted to change diapers at some point. Haven't done that in, oh, like 38 years -- is it like never forgetting how to ride a bicycle?

Joyous day, to be sure.

Big Mama is not feeling great but she's still got a long course of meds to take.

On Saint Paddy's Day at the hospital cafeteria, they had a scone on the plate along with corned beef and cabbage. Guess they somehow knew Superbob was due a celebratory scone for his Throwdown race win. Are we going to do any more races, or have they run their course, so to speak? Where is our stalwart, Steve? I know that the Chicago winter has been a tough battle.

Anyway, SB's weight last week: 257

SB's weight this week: 255. (Stress loss? -- Whatever, I'll take it.)

I am praying for steady and smooth progress for your grands, Mary!

And Melissa, continued recovery for your hubby.

All best to all our Throwdowners.

Go Vols in the March Madness! Also, No 1-seeded Virginia against our good team from down the road here, 16th-seeded Coastal Carolina, tonight. The Wahoos better not be looking past CCU -- they are a good, well-coached team. As a former Virginian, I am a little conflicted about which team I will be rooting hardest for.

SB, you deserved that scone, even if it came from a hospital. Just wanted to tell you that I am very proud of Tennesee. Yes. Me. They are representing the SEC in a commendable way. I told Cindy that they would win that initial game and that they'd win this too. Wow! They have really made a statement. So proud of them.

Hey, thanks, it is exciting to see the Volunteers in the Big Dance and doing well so far. If they can beat Mercer (no sure thing -- just ask Duke), they will be in the Sweet Sixteen. Who could have thunk it? Anyway, no matter what, this is their best basketball showing in a while.

Going to be watching Coastal Carolina (our local team) with interest in late game tonight against Virginia, the school where I met my DW for the first time almost a half-century ago. (Yikes, I am old.) :tongue2:

We are having the usual Madness in March….at least for this month, I am a basketball fanatic. :tongue2:

Super bob and Wise,

For you two basketball guys, my dad(he's 91), played for the Arkansas Razorbacks in 1946-48. He was a point guard when a point guard was 5'7". Kentucky was a formidable opponent always. They got to the Final 8 and lost to Kansas. He could shoot a great granny shot. But mostly, he could scoot down the court.

Basketball factoid.

SB, Coastal Carolina put forth a great effort. They should be proud! Cool to know that's where you met your DW.

mbeard, very cool factoid indeed!

That's cool about your Dad, Melissa. Here's another factoid: My Dad played football for four years against the Tennessee Volunteers -- way back when small colleges (like Maryville, his alma mater) played the big teams like Tennessee and Kentucky (nearly beat them a few times, too). Later he went to grad school at UT and became a huge UT football fan, as did I with him. Still am, though I went to college in Virginia.

Speaking of Kentucky, what a game, Kentucky Flash! I was rooting for your Wildcats to take down Wichita State. Was a really exciting game. Go SEC!

Yes, go SEC! The Vols are whooping up on Mercer as we speak. Kentucky plays Louisville, our ugly stepsister, on Friday. Contentious doesn't even begin to describe the animosity between the two fan bases!

Well, if Kentucky can knock off their ugly stepsister and Tennessee can beat Michigan, guess what: Kentucky versus Tennessee in the Elite Eight.

I will say this -- I'm wondering if some of those Tennessee basketball players have some football eligibility. They have some big, rough tough guys playing hoops.

I think Tennessee can stack up well against anyone right now. Any way you slice it, Kentucky has a tough road ahead (or a tough game, if they lose to ugly stepsister).

Hey, I forgot to post our weigh-in. Cindy lost 1.4 lbs, I think. She lost 10% of her weight so far. She is ahead of me frankly. My weigh-in did not really count because I weighed Thursday afternoon, after eating. My schedule was crazy last week. I was supposed to meeting the Louisville Spanish Language Group for dinner, but it was cancelled. So, anyway, I showed a gain of over 3 lbs. Surely I will shed that this week.

You asked about the races we've had and if we're still interested. I'm up for whatever everyone else is. It does give a short term goal to shoot for, but it's no big deal if everyone wants a break.

Congrats to Cindy! And I commiserate with you, Wise. March Madness has been about more than basketball in my household. Have the huge blessing of the arrival of a healthy new grandson. But his mom has been battling complications. Meanwhile my DW continues to feel badly while she has to continue to take powerful antibiotics to knock out an infection. Anyway, it is a minor matter compared to the other problems but my eating pattern is in total chaos. Hopefully all will be better in April.

As for where the Throwdown goes, I am understanding The Chimp is swinging back in, ousting the Man of Steel, and resuming control. :D

Cindy's doing great, and I'm sure you'll be back on track this week, Wise. Superbob, I hope DW feels better soon and your daughter-in-law's issues are quickly resolved.

March Madness! :eek2: This is the first time in many years that I did not fill out a bracket. It wasn't due to a lack of interest; I just didn't have time to get one completed before the start of the games.

I hate to say it, but I think I'm going to have to forgo any attempts at weight loss for the time being. I am very unhappy with my weight, and with all that's going on with our family, I need to concentrate on staying positive. Never fear: I will cheer everyone on from the sidelines!

Keeping you and your family in my prayers, Duffey! You're right -- there are times when weight goals must slide on the list of priorities.

We know you'll continue to be with us in the TD; and in fact, we old-timers remain hopeful you will resume your role as "Ref" one of these fine days. :biggrin2:
