Good Morning Throwdowners! This begins another Throwdown weigh-in week. Hope all are doing well. Look forward to hearing from everyone.

Haven't heard much about the Sprint to Saint Paddy's Day -- gather a few may be participating, and some may prefer not to, which is fine. In any case, Superbob will be glad to eat a cranberry-orange scone in celebration if he wins. ;)

I am going to go ahead with my weight this morning, since the next few days are going to be pretty hectic.

Starting weight as of Jan. 1: 263

Weight this morning: 259.3

Loss to date: 3.7 pounds

Superbob joined Weight Watchers mid-December, and his loss since then is 8.6 pounds. (He had really pigged out over Thanksgiving, so the first few pounds came off pretty quickly.)

So SB is pleased with the current trend and determined to continue it. He is now about 5 pounds from reaching the first WW goal. Then we can think about getting into the 240s for the first time in a long time.

Still a little befuddled by my scales. The number is still the exact same as it was for my WW weigh-in Tuesday, right to the ounce. I am sure my number reflects a genuine weight loss, but I would like to see the small fluctuations that occur day to day. I think Duffey is right about these scales having a memory, and needing to be jogged -- but I would prefer one with amnesia. :tongue2:

Anyway my mood is sunny. Got four granddaughter soccer tournament games to attend this weekend -- that ought to walk off some weight!:smile2:

Cheers,

Your faithful servant,
Defender of truth, justice, and the American way
SUPERBOB

Good going SB! You have done well since joining WW and especially considering when you joined. Two thumbs up!

I am doing well this week. Staying on track. Eating a bowl of strawberries, bananas and Yoplait 100 calorie Greek lemon yogurt for breakfast, with my Starbucks Verona coffee. I'm full actually, for now.

Greetings Throwdowners:smile2: ... I'm down 1/2 pound from last week ... I know the yoyo has described my weight loss efforts over the years but the time has come to start down and stay down:thumbup:

2104 Starting Weight: 232
Todays Weight: 231.0
Net Change: -1.0

Hooray, Mr. Chimp -- and The Kentucky Flash also looks to be on his usual winning path. :thumb up:

Superbob has his first appointment with a new cardiologist this morning (actually one who used to practice here, moved, and is now returning) -- and is being told by numerous people that he will "love her." No, not that she is a hottie, but because she is reputed to be a superb cardiologist. If that's true, I hope she will stay here for a good run -- this will be my fourth cardio in the past five years. :eek2: SB gratefully accepts any wishes for a good appointment -- I am presuming they will do an echo since I haven't had one in more than two years. Always nervous about that because a previous cardio and his tech mistook my combined valve/root device for an aneurysm and it took a lot of work to disabuse them of that incorrect conclusion.

Good going Cooker!

SB, best wishes for a great cardiologist appointment! It is a good thing to have a doctor you click with. I still don't have a cardiologist I am really comfortable with, but I thinking of looking for a new one this summer when my appointment would be due.
As far as my winning ways go, I am holding my own this week I think. Last week, even though I don't know my weight, was a follow-up to the previous not-so-good-sickness-induced-nondisciplined-eating fiasco. I hope to either maintain from two weeks ago or at least keep the damage to a minimum. I'll catch up to where I was, but it may happen around St. Paddy's Day.

Yesterday, we helped some friends out. One of them is in the hospital ingesting antibiotics due to a nasty infection which is affecting her hearing and she is totally blind, so that has been awful for her. Her hearing should return to normal after knocking out the infection. We picked up her husband from the hospital, took him to get some of her things, took them to her, and then went to eat at Longhorn's since he was hungry. I ate Redrock Grilled Shrimp which is delicious and friendly as far as WW points. I also had the rice and a baked potato, which may not have been a good idea.

I have started counting my WW points again and hoping for the best ... the big change this week has been eating breakfast before I leave home and sticking to no sweets or fried foods while at work (Chick-fil-a) ... the chicken noodle soup with saltines is pretty safe and low in points ... my biggest challenge this time of year is jelly beans ... as I discovered one bag has 27 points :eek2::redface2:

Going to have to eat on the run --literally -- this weekend while hoping to make it to four -- count 'em, four -- of my granddaughter's soccer games in a big weekend tournament here in MB. Don't know how this will square with WW points, but luckily I have some freebies stored up from eating salmon and such this week. After a while, I guess some of the novelty of WW tracking begins to wear off, but it's the best discipline I've found for staying on a path to a healthier weight. Good luck to all!

Good job Cooker and SB. Tracking the points, for WW, is really doing ourselves a favor. As Jennifer Hudson says, it works. Maybe slowly, but it does work. It does get old sometimes keeping track of what you eat, I admit, and I also admit that I didn't do so well the last two week while not feeling well.

After saying that I will report that my week of recovery has still yielded a 1 pound gain from two weeks ago. I am up 3.6 lbs from three weeks ago. So, now I am back on track and working on re-losing that weight. Life happens. Comfort food happens, hehe.

Cindy was up .6 this week, but she thought she would lose weight. That happens too in the process of weight loss. No big deal, she'll lose it this week probably.

Wise ...glad you are feeling better ... For me comfort food is a must when feeling under the weather ... the body needs it ... helps me rest and gives me the fuel I need to heal ... now it might be mainly psychological but for me it helps

I find that week to week weigh ins are super inaccurate, really. My weight EASILY varies as much as 3 lbs in a single day! So my weight watchers pattern tends to go like, lost .2, gained 1, lost .3, lost 2.5! Whenever I have a loss of more than a pound I then hope my body can hold that! Over time it adds up and the trend is down. But it's really tough to trace day to day.

I'll be weighing at end of March, got to make sure I remake lifetime goal because I do NOT want to pay another month! Need enough time to make super sure I make it.

Hope I don't curse myself by posting that my week and new resolve seem to be going well .... Hope all are well and yes Duffey it's COLD in the Carolinas :eek2: Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hey throwdowners,

I am at M.D. Anderson with my 34 year old who was diagnosed with melanoma about 3 weeks ago. She had a surgery 1 week ago, and we are waiting on the results of the lymph node biopsy. I know this is a heart valve forum, not a cancer blog, but I am Beyong stressed out, which can't be good for my heart valve problem.

I knew this thread would go away tomorrow so I gave in to my fear to all of you. I am so sorry. Everyone here has more problems than their family's health problems.

So sorry for this -- hope and pray the biopsy results are good. We share our concerns here freely, and not just about heart valve problems. Wishing for the best for your family.
