Lots of opportunity to eat this week ... 30th anniversary and a couple of church eating events ... I hope you had a great week and have managed to shed some unwanted weight ...

As a heart patient I really need to get serious about my weight .... I need a good ass kicking to get me started on a renewed mind set!!!

2013 Starting Weight: 231
Last Week: 227.5
This Week: 230.0

Activity: swim 1.5 miles = 4.5 miles walking

Think I'll wait and weigh in tomorrow. Having a nice salmon dinner tonight; trying to get back on track of eating sensibly, My orthopedist wants me to concentrate on eating a lot of protein and even taking iron supplements prior to surgery -- to build up for the rehab. Sounds sort of like Atkins Diet, modified, for me.

Take care, Steve.

Chimp, you are doing your swimming; and as Duffey pointed out, you could be replacing fat with muscle, which weighs more than fat. You are doing well. (BTW, where is our Duffey, our forever and beloved "Ref"?)

Happy Valentine's Day to all from The Man of Steel! :smile2:

Don't be hard on yourself Cooker. If you won't, then I won't be hard on me because I have been afraid to step on the scale. I too need a turn around, which I'm deciding to begin today. Happy 30th!

Superbob, good luck with your knee surgery! I'm sure you will be glad you did it.

Steve, hope you're feeling better soon!

As mentioned earlier, we have dealt with some stress issues and I have not responded appropriately food wise. We are okay and all that, but stress is not my specialty. I began exercising again today, so that's a plus and great for stress, so they say. I will report sometime in the near or foreseeable future. ; )

Hi Duffey. I hope you're doing okay during your break from this unruly group.

Hello Laurie. Hope you're doing well this week. I know you are working on losing some water weight. Hope work is not as wildly crazy as before.

Mom2izzy, hello to you too. It sounds like you're doing well overall.

Hello to anyone else I missed. Oh yeah, hi Nelson whenever you sneak your face in here. hehe

Starting weight: 265

Last week: 263

Today: 262.8

Well, it's a small change, but at least it's in the right direction.

Meanwhile, I got a date -- what better day than St. Valentine's to do so, right? :tongue2: My date for total knee replacement surgery is April 9. All sorts of doc visits and tests before then.

Superdawg and I will continue on the trail as best we can before then. She will have to be my care dog for some weeks afterwards, then hopefully we will be able to take gradually longer walks. And community outdoor pool opens in May -- maybe I can join the Chimp in adding swimming into the mix.

Good luck to all members of our merry band of Throwdowners.

Superbob - Can Superdawg open the fridge? Still time to learn. . .

Anyway, my best wishes to you for a successful replacement and speedy recovery. One of my colleagues at work had a knee replacement a couple of years ago and she did very well with it. Her secret was to do and then "over-do" what her physical therapist prescribed for her to do. She was very diligent at rehab, and the results showed the value of her effort. I'll bet you can better even that.

Thanks, Steve -- yep, Superdawg can do anything.

While I am a little nervous about the surgery (you know, it has to be a little scary), I am actually looking forward to the PT. I understand it typically starts in the hospital the day after surgery, and then a therapist comes to our home for a daily session the first week, and then you do out-patient PT for approx 2 months. Anyway, I have always enjoyed PT and benefitted from it, so I intend to be a rehab overachiever. My favorite football player, Robert Griffin III, is currently rehabbing his knee with the intention of playing in the season opener in the fall, so I draw inspiration from him.

Sounds like a good plan SB! Prayers offered for the whole process. I have complete confidence you will excel in rehab!

I am up .5 this week, but is a miracle that I will eagerly accept. I am still down 5.5 for the race to infinity.

I have not forgotten about the mileage challenge. I have been very busy and have burned some unlogged miles. I will get myself a pedometer hopefully today.

Cindy has ignored the weight issue this week. I better not push it, so I won't.

Good report, Kentucky Flash! I, too, had forgotten about the mileage report. Mine is pretty boring right now, though Superdawg and I have done some bird counting while walking (actually Sadie counts cats and squirrels). :tongue2: We have seen a great blue heron (gorgeous bird!) 2 days this week. I'll say it's been about a mile a day, except 1 1/2 miles one day -- so 7 1/2 miles for the week. Hope there will be longer ones down the road. Superdawg hopes so, too, but she'll have to be a patient nurse for a while after April 9.

I weighed in at 151 today. That's up from where I was, but I'm paying it no heed since I intend for it to be my high water mark for the year.:wink2:
Congrats Bob on your 8th valversary . . . . today. Yes, I heard it through the grapevine.:biggrin2:
I received official confirmation that the 5M event I trained for last year will once again be held on June 1. That gives me about 3 months to get ready and ramp up Throwdown mileage. I've only logged 1 1/2 miles so far, so that means I can begin with only a very small head start on Wise.:wink2: Come on, Wise, let's do this!

Hey Duffey, great to see you back. Yes, I know you told us you were taking a break, and that's okay, but it's not the same around here without you. :smile2: Thanks for the good wishes on the valversary #8 -- yep, I did post about it on FB -- trying to get someone in my family inspired enough to bake me a re-birthday cake. But it's ho-hum to them. Just as well, I guess, cause I really don't need to be eating cake. :D

Sounds like you're well-positioned for all the races to come, Duffey.

Tennessee Vols -- 88, Kentucky Wildcats -- 58. In basketball?????

I'm sure that must be some kind of misprint or hoax on the news wires. :tongue2: Surely the Kentucky Flash will want to clarify.... hehehehehehe.. (Rub it in, no not Superbob.) :tongue2:

Nerlens Noel + torn ACL = Kentucky is finished for the year!

I'm out of contrrol ... pass the pie.....

Apple, cherry, peach, blackberry, blueberry, pumpkin, sweet potato, mince, pecan, chocolate, or.....? :tongue2::tongue2::tongue2:

Also, Superbob is feeling guilty about razzing the Kentucky Flash so much about the Vols whipping Kentucky in basketball. Hey, Flash, you know that's only because your 'Cats usually mop the floor with the Big Orange, don't you? ;)

No prob Bob! I took it in the right way. I volunteer to let another team take the crown this year. Will Rocky Top be playing when the nets are cut down?
