Wow, silly Superbob had taken over for The Chimp for only three days, and discipline started breaking down rapidly. We almost had a "*** thread" going as in the old days here, with an assist from our honorary Throwdowner, Bina. :p

Okay, on to serious business. I have to drive DW to a doctors appointment this morning, so I only have a few minutes to put this starter post up. And I need to walk Superdawg early 'cause we'll be out a while.

So all are free to weigh in either on this early-start (originally done for our Aussie members) or on Friday or the weekend, whatever suits. The Man of Steel (steel weighs more than flesh, remember) will weigh tomorrow.

In the past few days, Superbob has started restoring a semblance of dietary discipline after the Thanksgiving free-for-all. We even had salmon, the wonder food, the other night. Threw away the rest of the holiday pies -- no one was eating them, evidently leaving them to the superhero as per usual over the years.

Okay so here's a modest start. Let's hear from everybody even if you're deferring weigh-in. Let's see those displays of steely resolve, such as to make Superbob proud. Raise a toast of orange juice to The Chimp (who probably is out in the jungles in quest of a new prune-juice elixir to produce miracle weight loss):biggrin2:

…..Good going and good losin' or maintaining to all.

YOUR MOST HUMBLE SERVANT,
PROTECTOR OF TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND THE AMERICAN WAY,
SUPERBOB

Checking in, but not weighing in, until tomorrow.
I bought the cranberries for the cranberry bread (scones are not in my field of expertise), but I have been hit by an even bigger temptation. :eek2:How does a spice cake with molasses cream cheese frosting sound to the rest of you? (Don't answer that, Bina.:wink2:) Happily there is no cream cheese in the house, so I'm ok for now. Winter storm is closing in from the West, so the possibility of another run to the store for cream cheese is remote. I guess behind every dark cloud is a silver lining.:biggrin2:

I will weigh on Saturday, unless we can't get to the WW meeting because of the weather. I had a big ole burger this week, an excess that I didn't plan, so we'll see what happens. As far as the spice cake, it would be safe with me, but if you put that molasses cream cheese frosting on a carrot cake then all safety would be gone.

Hope Mrs. SB had a good appointment and that SB can go buy some scones now that its confirmed that the shipment has been cancelled.

Many thanks to Bob for stepping in and keeping this band of losers on track.... I'm down a fraction but at least its not up:thumbup:

2013 Starting Weight: 231
Last Weigh In : 228.75
Todays Weight: 228.50
YTD: 2.5

The more things change, the more they stay the same (as an elegant French expression says)….

Anyway, Superbob is within a few ounces of being exactly where he was when this year began. So yes there has been some backsliding since last summer. But there is something to be said for maintaining and not getting too big for my current britches, so to speak. Without the TD, I probably would have just let go and been a candidate to be the fat man in the sideshow by now. :eek2::smile2:

Ah but I know I need to do better. Maintaining over the Christmas/New Year's holidays would be a big accomplishment, and then I need to set a determined goal to lose 10 pounds in 2014.

I'm a little late posting this morning, because I've been busy baking cranberry orange bread.

According to the scales, I'm down a pound, so I intend to offset the loss with a few days of cranberry orange bread consumption.

Don't you love my logic?

Last weigh-in: 151
This week: 150

Makes sense to me. Think I will try that with.chocolate. must work if you've done it and I hhave confidence in you.

Thank you for your vote of confidence, Ann.
Please don't let my next suggestion undermine the faith you've shown in me.

Ok fellow Throwdowners! Hensylee has posted in our forum, and I for one think we should shanghai her and make her one of our regular posters. Of course, she doesn't need to lose any weight, but she could be our technical advisor.
Our first offseason draft?

SB, sounds like a very reasonable plan!

Duffey, that totally makes sense to me! Lose a pound, eat a cake! That's how I think.

Cooker, hey a little loss at time of the year is a big victory!

Ann would be a great addition here! Ann, was good to see you visiting the Throwdown, and would be great to have you as our technical adviser, as Mary suggests. You're welcome here anytime!

*** thread? Somebody mention a *** thread? Yall haven't changed a bit.

I really need to but don't want to lose any pounds but the other subject caught my attention so maybe somebody needs to keep an eye on this thread. Just to see where it goes, you see.

(Taking a swig of Geritol tonic ©Cort) ….*** thread, *** thread? Why sure nuff -- soon as I can remember what S-E-X is…and work up enough geriatric energy. :biggrin2: You can be sure we will keep an eye out, Ann.

Speaking of gender, Superbob got a surprise honor attending his wife's UDC Christmas party tonight -- special pin kind of recognizing SB as a honorary "daughter" (or combo husband/daughter or something like that) cause he takes his wife to all the meetings 'cause she can't drive and also takes photos for the chapter. Besides the pin, the honor came with multiple platters of Christmas cookies and brownies baked by the sweet ladies. Now can't be impolite and turn down such goodies -- what's a poor Superbob to do? Oh I know, grandkiddies to the rescue. : )

All right, troops, where are you all?:confused2:

Superbob had yet another party tonight -- his Mended Hearts crew. We laughed so much that I was afraid we'd get banned from the hospital. And ate so much rich food that my belt will probably go out two notches. No telling what the scales will say Friday…..:wink2:

Forgot to check in with our weight. I lost 1.6 lbs and Cindy gained .6, so all in all it was a good week. That puts me at a loss of about 14 for the year, which I feel lucky to have done to be honest.

Good going, Wise! I am going to have to do something like you're doing; I have gotten out of control. We never had so many Christmas parties to attend til we moved here, nor so many restaurants with amazing menus. Last night at the Mended Hearts party, I just nibbled at some of the good food our members brought, partly because I was nervous having to preside -- BUT when we got home with yummy leftovers, I just splurged...:eek2: Okay, I can't do anything about that now, but I need to step up exercise and cut back on the holiday food a bit. I have never tried WW but maybe I ought to look into it as a way to start the New Year.

WW actually has a lot more men members now than they used to. It really is a very balanced program and I like that I'm able to fit in some treats.

My response to food seems to be very similar to yours. I would have splurged after the event too, that is especially if I'd be in charge of the meeting.
