Wow, things get hectic the first of the year, after all the celebrating is done, don't they?

In any event, welcome to the start of a new Throwdown week's-end weighing-in.

Superbob sees a little more progress on his scales but thinks we will wait til tomorrow morning to see if he sees a little more (or actually less)….He wonders why he didn't start WW many years ago; who knows, maybe he thought it was a girlie thing (silly Superbob!)….:p

I had tried daily food journals and such, but having the points system right in front of me on the computer is just right for me. Not signed up for weekly meetings -- too many folks might want to tug on Superbob's cape. :tongue2: SB really is a shy, retiring Clark Kent type, you know. :biggrin2:

Okay enough silliness -- SB will have some Saint Paddy's Day Race progress to report tomorrow.

Hope that all TDers are doing well -- look forward to the return of all who have been on holiday hiatus.

Onward and downward, Throwdowners!

Your Humble Servant, the Defender of Truth, Justice, and the American Way,
Superbob

There are plenty of Lois Lanes at WW meeting. I'm sure they would not only be in line to weigh, but a little cape tugging would be in order too. Actually there a lot of guys whom have been very successful doing WW but don't attend meetings. There are usually about 4 to 6 guys in our meeting and about 25 ladies or so. Anyway, good luck with your downward trend for tomorrow.

Inquiring minds want to know if SB weighs with his cape on or off? Maybe the ladies would tug at your cape to speed up the weighing process? I will post my weight tomorrow. I didn't get it done today. :wink2:

Superbob weighs in an old-timey telephone booth uncovered by American Pickers and converted to a WW scale. The booth is draped so no one may see. :tongue2:

Happy weigh-in Friday, all Throwdowners!

Superbob's starting weight in Race to St Patrick's Day: 263

Weight this morning: 262.1

Progress so far: down 0.9

(Also since starting WW in mid-December, Superbob (weighing sans cape) is down 5.8 pounds.) Pleased about that.

Winning the Saint Paddy's race would be fun, but the big point is that by running the race (of life) we are all winning.

Will love to hear from all Throwdowners and Friends of Throwdowners about how they are doing early into this New Year.:D

Cheers to all!

After last year's successes, I have to set a new start point for this year. I'm not sure where I was at last weigh-in, but for the past couple of days I've been stable, so I'll state:

Starting weight for 2014 158.8

Target 155 by mid-May

Not sure how this year will go, as I've done about all the dosage adjustments I can on my meds, and can't find time to exercise any more than I already do. I guess the only other route open to me is intake management (note that I do not use the word "diet"). Not sure how my wife would take this, as she is convinced that I do not eat enough for a man as it is. She is used to the appetites of younger, more physically active men in the family. At my age and working an office job, I just don't need massive caloric intake to operate.

This will take some thought.

Good luck with your new goal weight, Steve. You've done real well this past year. :thumbup:Congrats also to our Caped Wonder on losing weight during the month of December. That is a Super Achievement!
As for me, I'm down a half pound. I expected it to be more since the scales looked better earlier in the week, but it is what it is.
Starting weight: 151.5
This week: 151.0

Congrats, Duffey, you're doing great to have any loss after all you were dealing with through the holidays. And Steve, I echo Duffey: You are doing fabulous -- real success last year, and sounds like you have a good plan this year.

Re our Dear Wives (and this is certainly no complaint) -- I, too, have a wonderful one who sometimes thinks I don't eat enough (believe it or not), especially when we go to a favorite Carolina country-cooking place with a huge buffet line. When I try to settle for just a simple chicken salad sandwich, she gets miffed that I'm not going through the line with the fried chicken, and scalloped taters, and cherry cobbler at the end. I beg her, please, please go get what she wants, but often she'll just settle with a scowl for a sandwich 'cause that's what I'm having…. One of those clashes in marriage for which I've never discovered a solution.

Anyway, great to hear from you Steve, as well as Duffey, and to know that all's going well.

hmmmmmm. We're missin' some folks here. Superbob's not going to call roll or get out the whupping stick, but want our dear friends to know we're still here. Don't even have to weigh if you don't want. That's not mandatory. But we miss you and would love to hear from you. :smile2:

Cindy used all of her splurge points last week and had a modest gain of .2 lbs. I lost a pound but won't brag about it at home!

Good job everyone!

SB, I think that women seem to think that all men should look like Larry The Cable Guy. I have a feeling he eats everything on the buffet. When we rejoined WW one of the members that was there when we were members before said "you don't look like you need to lose weight." I thought, well if you saw me nude you wouldn't say that! Of course, that won't happen! They make me weigh with my clothes on still.

Duffey, I agree to lose at all during your illness is a big time victory.

Steve, I agree with SB and Duffey, you have done remarkably well and have a very good plan in place.

I have 11 lbs to go until I reach my target goal and start maintenance. I feel very blessed to have made a turn around after spending a lot of last year in backslide mode.

The Kentucky Flash just keeps rollin' on -- or rollin' off the pounds. Good going, man -- hard to believe you have another 11 to lose. You must have winning the Saint Paddy's Day race in your sights. :biggrin2:

I don't know, but I think Superbob should utilize that "whupping stick".:tongue2::wink2:

Superbob fears that administering a whupping stick against a chimp could be considered animal cruelty. However, I am seriously considering imposing banana-pudding deprivation unless said Mr. Chimp makes an appearance here pronto. :tongue2:

Superbob is not going to bore everybody with details of his weekly Tuesday weigh-in for Weight Watchers, but will just say that I am averaging a 1.7 pound-a-week loss since starting WW in mid-December. I love the daily online tracking (so much more informative than a food journal, which I'd tried in the past).I am pleased with what I am doing now.:thumb up:

Okay, Superbob is putting away his "whupping stick" (temporarily) and using his "kinder, gentler" side today. :biggrin2:

SB knows well how hectic the first of the year is -- he experiences it himself, though he is in semi-retirement. Truth is, I think life is more frantic now than when I went to an office to work every day.:rolleyes2:

Anyway, just wanted to say, if a number of our members have just been too busy to check in, that's totally understandable. Maybe some have tired of the weekly weigh-in bit -- that's understandable, too -- we all need breaks from time to time. However, if you have just a few minutes, we hope you will check in when I open the new week's thread tomorrow/Friday (or that you will say hello today, for that matter).

All I am trying to say is, the welcome mat is out.

And that goes for newcomers who peek here and wonder what the heck. :biggrin2:

We are a very informal and friendly group of folks who share a concern about trimming a few pounds (more than a few in my case) and we track our progress here weekly. We have friends of Throwdowners also who just pop in to give us encouragement and/or exchange greetings. We also engage in informal banter -- we have fun while also trying to keep ourselves on good paths toward the best fitness we can achieve.

So y'all come join us -- we have a hardy group and we'll be here regardless, But the welcome mat is there for other heart buddies.
