It seems fitting the we start the race to the Red, White & Blue on April 1st, aka April Fools Day:biggrin2: ... I have been know to pull a prank or two and have also been on the receiving end of some pretty good ones myself ... it’s all in good fun and I’m sure a tad bit sophomoric ....

Today (Thursday) marks my second week of no sugar snacks and it is still paying off! ... I’m down two pounds this week, in two weeks I’ve lost five pounds just by cutting out sugar and eating properly ... the only sweet snack I have allowed myself has been soft serve frozen yogurt (once a week) and since the word “yogurt” is in the name it’s ok....:tongue2:

I hope everyone has had a good week and that we are all fired up for the race to the 4th!!! ... I think we should go with individual results ... easier to track ... no spotting pounds to the ladies etc ....

Last week : 204
This week: 202

Red, White & Blue Starting Weight: 202

Whoa, wait, how did The Chimp get my personal trainer to pose for his avatar? ;) Oh well, she'll be going back to the gym with me. ;)

On Superbob's weigh-in: tomorrow, tomorrow, the sun will come out tomorrow....:smile2:

Well, sometimes I'd like to kick my own butt.:mad2:

Last week I proclaimed I was beginning the race to the 4th with a starting weight of 156. I stepped on the scales today, and I weigh 158. Chimp Cooker says we can use either week's weight, but I'm going to stick with what I said.

Red, White & Blue Starting Weight: 156

April Fool..................!!!!!

Well, alrighty there y'all ~~ I'm back..:angel:and raring to go in the Red, White, & Blue race to the 4th..

Welcome back Mizz Rhena..!!

Starting weight = hunnerd 'n plenny..:mad2:
Ending weight = like John Fogerty sings, "Put Me In Coach" for 14.5 hours..:eek2:and I better fit...:biggrin2: Shanghai or bust..!!

Made the two week mark before I had a sugar snack, one small ice cream cone ... I'll have another one in two weeks ... I really was surprised that I was satisfied with such a small serving:thumbup:

Yeah, well I keep finding all these so-called missing pounds. I am a disgusting 137.8 this morning. I dunno what I'm doing wrong, so as of this morning I'm starting a 10 minute walk on the treadmill before my AM shower. In 2 weeks I'll move that to a 10 minute elliptical, then increase that 5 min per week until I'm doing 20 minutes every morning. Plus my lunchtime walk, and evening dog walk, dog class, and some weights.

Sorry body, but I have to work full time and then some, so I can't spend all day in the gym like the movie stars.

Really, people, I know I ate too much for 4 days in Florida, but that was a month ago! I've been behaving. It really should have started coming off by now!

I understand your frustration ... mine is much the same ... I'm now trying to fudge a little here and there saying, "it won't hurt my plan":rolleyes2: ....Let's kick this gain monster's ass:thumbup:

Hang in their Laurie!!. Duffey, being up 2, just means you'll have more to lose in the race. I have to admit I have been kicking the scales under the bureau just like I was hiding my laptop under a pillow. I did weigh on Friday, but didn't write it down and can't remember. I'll weigh in the morning before rehab and that'll be my starting weight.I'll post it tomorrow - it'll be scary. If I don't weigh in the lady at rehab will give me a rap on my knuckles (only kidding.. they are all quite nice but very picky about weight and using the same scale at the same time. I started with mine at home, so that is what I have to keep using. )

Sounds like you are going great guns Mr. chimp!

You all know Superbob's fondness for Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Well, Mrs. Superbob Sweet Tooth bought a box of a dozen last week and SB did his best not to eat any and let the rest of the family enjoy them -- until late that night when he just "HAD" to treat himself to one. Well, he ate one and quickly developed indigestion and had to take Pepto and took hours to get to sleep. The doughnut was fresh, nothing wrong with it. Something similar happened recently when SB ate a couple of Hershey kisses.

SB is seriously wondering if this is positive -- or maybe a signal of something not so good. Fully aware I'm not supposed to eat much sugar but should even just a little be making me ill?

SB ... I fell off the no-sugar wagon yesterday and feel like crap ... indigestion, nausea .... I ate much more than you did but it definitely screwed up the body's harmony .... Hope you feel better soon....

SB - at least you only ate one Krispy Kreme. I refuse to divulge how many I at the other day! I've got to get back to my heart healthy diet. At Rehab they always ask me how heart healthy has my diet been on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst. My answer has been 12!

I cannot believe how much weight I've gained and I'm just sick about it. Not fair for it to be so hard to get off and to have it come back on so quickly.

Starting weight for Race for RW&B : 215 :mad::mad:

Rhena, we go through a lot with this surgery, and our bodies need time to adjust. Don't get down on yourself. I've battled weight and been a yo-yo all my life, but I was particularly frustrated post-op because I thought the surgery would magically lop pounds off me. It didn't. Wrong kind of surgery, I reckon. :p Anyway, the cardiac rehab helped and I'm betting it will help you, too. But just slow and steady. I'm sure your nurses and docs are checking for potential fluid retention issues, too.

We all love having you back here! :smile2:

I had a vision of losing 10-15 pounds with surgery but I was up about the same ... very frustrating and hurtful ... we all understand ... but now is not the time to beat yourself up ... you still have a lot of healing to do and you need to eat nutritiously and not deprive your body ...it's take time to heal and get back in the routine that's right for you ... it will happen:thumbup:

Wow, the joys of a weather alert radio! It went off 3 or 4 times after 4 a.m. this morning, warning of severe thunderstorms and a tornado watch, which is still on til 11. Right here at the Superbob abode, it wasn't too bad; few strong thunderboomers and 40 mph winds. But I am not regretting the weather radio -- it could save our lives some day. This has been a good prep drill for tropical storms/hurricanes. Sooner or later, one is going to blow through here.

Superbob is going to try a new exercise class this rainy morning at the Y. He also is pleased he is getting set up with a new cardiologist. The other team was nice, but could never get on the same page with them as to my surgeon reviewing all their imaging results and saying my aortic dimensions were perfectly in line with the root/valve replacement he did six years ago. They kept getting perturbed by echo results showing what they took to be an aneurysm, then wanting me to have a CT-Scan, then calming down but wanting me to repeat in 6 months with echo and CT-Scan if indicated (whereas the surgeon says echo once a year is fine). I simply do not want to get radiated twice a year if I can help it, when there is no good reason. So adios, amigos.

Ah yes, the joys of the weather alert radio. I had one for a time, but it would go off when the storms were on the West side of Fort Worth, then keep going off every few minutes for new alerts, for 2 or 3 hours before the storms finally hit us on the East side of Dallas. There was NO way to adjust it, either, neither the area affected nor the volume!

Given that storms always seem to hit us in the early morning/predawn hours, that @#$ radio lost me a whole lot of sleep, and gave one of my dogs storm anxiety.
I pitched the bugger.

I'm tempted to do likewise, Laurie. It certainly perturbs Sadie dog all the more. However, if we ever had a warning of a tornado in the middle of the night (as opposed to just a watch), I think it would be worth it. Just a few minutes to seek cover (a little more sturdy than the bed cover) might make a difference. Anyway, I have always been a bit of a weather nut and enjoy the drama.:D

EXACTLY..!! We don't live in tornado alley, so that little bugger also went to file 13.

Regarding throwdown -- I absolutely cannot get motivated...cannot get motivated...cannot get motivated..!:redface2:

We planted 16 new plants over the weekend and digging in this caliche is difficult - it's a real workout. I didn't lose a pound..........GAINED one. Crazy...:mad2:
