Cold Medicines

I had my AVR done on 7/27 and have a bovine valve. I am not big on taking medicines, but usually do the first couple of days of a cold. I can feel one coming on now and was wondering what info everyone had out there about taking OTC cold medicines. I meant to ask my cardio at my last visit, but forget. This is the first time I have been sick since my surgery.

For those of us on Blood Pressure meds the concern is with decongestants and antihistamines which can cause a spike in blood pressure.
If in doubt, my choice is a Tylenol tablet, then chicken soup, tea with lemon and honey.
Rest as much as you can.
