A Southern Girl!
:confused:Well I got my machine today from inrtest.com, in about five days sense I ordered it, which I was surprised. Also, about $1800 cheaper than QAS! I just knew I would have a INR reading by now, well three pricks later nothing. I am doing something wrong, I have read the book, watched the video, wasted test strips! LOL! My husband could not take it any longer so I quit for now. Tomorrow I will try again! Anybody have any helpful tips I can try! I will be buying new supplies soon at this rate! It looks so simple! H E L P!:(

Well after my husband went to bed LOL! I started again got one on my little finger it was 3.8 but I had taken my warafrin one hour before so not sure how accurate the reading was. I will check it again tomorrow doctor wants it at to 3.5 so I might just take 7.5 tomorrow if it is still 3.8 or higher. I am ordering the dosage book also. Does the adjustment seem good enough? I have a lot to learn! Glad that is over with, I did have some dental pre meds this week.

Glad you got it right. Do not feel bad for wasting three strips...I wasted quite a few at the start. I prick my pinky as it is the most generous with the blood drop:)

I cannot advise you about the adjustment as I am still learning too! Good luck and enjoy the freedom.

I think if your doctor wants you around 3.5, then don't adjust the dosage because 3.8 is near enough. You'll never be EXACTLY where they want you all the time so don't worry.
What dose are you taking at the moment?
You sound like you are doing well. Don't worry, like Eva I also wasted a few (quite a few, LOL) strips at the beginning, until I got the hang of it, but now I'm fine.
Coaguchek XS rocks!

last time I wasted astrip, I got frustrated, gave up and went and did some gardening. Then I re-tried, and bled like a stuck pig! If you are cold, it can be difficult, so go walk around, get that heart pumping, anf it should be easier!

Warfarin doesn't work "Instantly". It takes 3 days for the full effect of the last dose taken to show. If your range is 2.5 to 3.5 and you got 3.8, don't do a thing! That 3.8 can easily be a 3.5 on the next test. Wait a week and test then. If it's trending up, reduce the dose by 10% for the WEEK. Don't change your dose at all right now.

Yea, I was a little hesitant at first but I went to the currency exchange and I paid $745 in us dollars. I got 24 strips and a bunch of lancets free. I got it in 5 days. When I went to check out it calculated US dollars for me! I am very pleased!

I take 10mg a day. The last 8 weeks I have been at 3.8 at the lab. I am not going to adjust it, just enjoy me a salad and some green stuff. I don't get upset unless I get over 4.0. I just felt bad yesterday, sinus I think and dental work this week. Seems all my teeth want to break off now and they love crowns and $$$$ at the dentist office. Oh well I am blessed, I am happy with my new machine and I get to do it when I want! Thanks
